Destiny Has Had Almost 13M Players

what platform are you playing on, Steve? I play almost daily, and haven't seen an empty social district in weeks.

I wouldnt be suprised if they are including the demo players in this figure. That being said the game is consistently in the top ten on Twitch so there might be some truth to this but who knows.

PS4/XBO/360

My son and his friends play the most, but between all the error codes, kicks to orbit and empty servers, the game is a huge bummer.

I'll bet you're right.

I play every day on PS4..I have yet to see an empty tower.

That said the only error I've ever encountered is one where the game mysteriously punts me to the PS dashboard. It doesn't actually shut the game as I go right back exactly were I was. But it usually comes at the worst possible time. I can't tell if that is a PS problem or a destiny problem. I'm pretty sure it is a destiny thing as it is the only game it does that.

Anyhow if you are looking for people to play with my psn is the same as here. I've only played a few weeks at this point so I'm not some uber geared raid player but I'm 30 and I do the weekly stuff.

Err psn is the same as my name here without the -E- ..forgot I had that attached to my name here.

Are you playing on a wired or wireless connection? From what I've gathered, Destiny is one of those games that is not very forgiving of packet loss. I for one am playing on a wired connection. PSN name is same as my [H] user name. I won't be on again till the 30th or 31st of December, but I am looking for people to do raids with.

Well, here's a key bit of info from the article.
Back in October Bungie said Destiny had 3.2 million daily players.

Yeah, so in October when the game came out they had 3.2 million players per day, but no figure for November, and nothing so far for December... just how much has that number dropped. Sure, they might have 13 million total players since launch, but with all of the problems and short attention spans of the general public, I doubt they're going to have that for long.

That being said, even if they were down to just 1% per day, 32,000 players, I still don't understand how you can login and see no one for 3 hours. There has to be some sort of problem. Possibly like how people complain about never finding more than 1 or 2 people in a lobby in GTA online, yet other people can actually find other players to interact with on a regular basis.

Destiny seems to be split onto countless shards / instances, as my brother and I will login from the same internet connection, stand in the same spot and not see each other unless we are in the same fireteam. 13 million players means nothing if there is, say, 100 000 server shards.

There's so much wrong with it. MP is full of latency (peer to peer bs which i've been on both sides of)

And weapon balance on top of latency. Then it's the grind. 400hrs and i'm done. I wish I had NOT bought a ps4 right now.

i know that the city only supports 16 people in total. i would assume the worlds are about the same too.

Biggest disappointment for me, and many others as well, in gaming that I can remember. Can't beleive I fell for the lies, hype and marketing. Bungie is so overrated.

Lol. I love all the "this game sucks that's why I quit after 400 hours" talk. That's almost four a day since launch. Yeah. Must really suck.

I haven't seen a KTO in weeks and there are always folks in the public areas. Haven't had this much co-op fun in ages.

The numbers are shocking. Even out doing WoW. But something about those numbers can't be right. Users are still given it a terrible score, both for Xbox One and PS4.

They have to be playing with the numbers. Also who announces a games success but the number of people actually playing it?

Note the "has had", I wonder how many concurrently active there are at one time. I probably count as one of those millions and I only played the game cause I could get it for free with a Red Box rental.....

Ok so how many hours are you into it?

Someone somewhere called it "The game we all hate but can't stop playing".

I'm kinda new to it, about 2 weeks in, and having fun. Bought a destiny bundle PS4 for this game and not disappointed. The multiplayer co-op is fun. The core gameplay (shooting stuff) I find very enjoyable. PvP is kinda hit or miss for me, some people with godly armor or unlocked skills just wreck everyone, and I'm left hunting for head shots with a sniper rifle.

But back on topic, been playing the last two weeks, never a shortage of people in tower, on maps, or for pugs. (Don't have any friends on ps4 yet, so all I do is pug!)

Yea don't worry man i am in the exact same boat. Sitting right at 3 weeks and having a ton of fun still. Then again I'm actually glad for once I didn't buy at launch as there were a ton of bad problems that have largely been ironed out. Game is still far from perfect but so far the overwhelming majority of the people I see complaining are the ones who played "400"
hours and really are just burnt out period. That and the ones who have never experienced a true MMO grind and laughably think this is a grind. Three weeks in I have 2 pieces of raid armor, 2 exotics and a slew of legendaries. Sure I did some grinding to get them, I've played a ton of hours in the past 3 weeks, but compared to grinding I did in games like EQ and FFXIV? Pfft this is a walk in the park level grind. I load up, I do my bounties and now my daily/weekly/nightfall. I jump into a pickup raid here and there where I can via Reddit and I get stuff. I also don't bother with PVP as I abhor PVP with a controller...give me a mouse and keyboard or forget it. So yes I'm rather frustrated that all the exotic bounties I've got require PVP to complete so I ended up deleting. However I've got plenty to do in the PVE so it doesn't phase me.

Speaking of..Xur Comes tomorrow and I've got a Boat load of motes and Coins ready to go. Woo. :D
