When Microsoft is wrong, they know when are wrong and want to make things right with the fans. What better way to say you are sorry than to shower you Xbox Live perks and more cool stuff.

As a token of our appreciation and to thank fans for the continued support and understanding, we will be offering the following items, for free, to anyone who has played Halo: The Master Chief Collection online since launch (11.11.14) through (12.19.14).

I was expecting some sort of catch that would affect eligibility, but apparently anyone that's played online prior to today get's the free content. I don't own the game myself but definitely sweet for those that do.

To show our appreciation to the “Halo” community for their support and understanding as we worked through issues impacting “Halo: The Master Chief Collection”, we are offering free to all online users1 that have played “Halo: The Master Chief Collection” between Nov. 11, 2014 and Dec. 19, 2014 the following: 1-month of Xbox Live Gold, an exclusive in-game nameplate and avatar, as well as the campaign for “Halo 3: ODST” – remastered in 1080p and 60fps for Xbox One2. Thanks to our friends at Bungie for creating the original “Halo 3: ODST” campaign.

What a great gesture!
As an apology to all of those who can't play online due to busted multiplayer, those that have managed to actually get online to play get free stuff!

Or they could, y'know, fix the damn game. It has been over a month of weekly patches and it still doesn't work properly.

No dedicated servers
Campaigns are all buggy.
CE doesn't do a consistent 60fps
H2A is the same
H2C is broken because of the 60fps, the carbine kills faster than the BR now. Sniper headshots barely register at long range
CE Multi is just a clusterfuck of wrong. Shots don't register, teams are always uneven.
Halo 3 has wrongly mixed audio, the channels are reversed. It has a weird brightness curve so the game is washed out.
Halo 4 sometimes just crashes and displays a debug message (in a released product, that is just LOL)
Campaign saving checkpoints barely work
Halo 4 has a lot of missing visual effects.

And many more bugs, but this is what I could remember.

In fact, the least shoddy product of the release is surprisingly, Halo 3. They only way they can hope to come back from this is to take the game back to shop, actually test it and get it out of beta, and soft release it again. Instead of saying sorry and throwing content at us to make the problem go away, they should come back in Spring/Mid 2015 and say "Okay, here is the game you all wanted". That at least might convince everyone who left in droves to come back.

I'd give it a second chance then. I bought an XB1 for this game and gave it right back to Amazon after a month of nothing changing.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I was actually considering getting an XB1 because of this compilation. But now I will not, until I know all of these issues are fixed. You'd think that Microsoft would know their own IP and get it right but... I'm reminded of Sega Smashpack Vol 1. for the Dreamcast. That was an abomination as well. So who knows...

Amazon had a XB1 for $350 and it came with Assassins Creed Black Flag and Unity, along with a $70 gift card. I almost jumped on it for this compilation as well, but hearing that they still haven't fixed it caused me to say screw it and back off. Considering how bad it sounds I wonder if they'll ever fix it.

It's nowhere near as bad as what some people are saying. They're either blind, retarded, or their consoles are fucked up.

The only glitches I have ran into are minor audio quibbles, and I had to start a mission once because the checkpoint didn't register. I also played some MP last night and all seemed fine, other than me sucking ass.

There were issues? Or are these old issues that was just fixed? I just got done playing at a neighbors house and didn't see any issues.

ONly for online users? What about the fucked up checkpoints and black screens for campaign players?

Of course it played fine "last night" that's after the Nth match making patch was deployed.

The campaign checkpoint save was totally busted in H2.

Half the time you launched the game the screen was black, you had to toggle between the old engine and the new to get it back which is not so bad, but still sad as shit for a $60 title.

MCC launch was a total shitshow.

You are wrong and don't spread crap, this game is beyond unfinished, as evident by the MS apology and the fact they offered refunds for this on the digital copy, which MS don't normally do.

Fine for you maybe, not for the majority.

I bought an X1 just for this set, got it on black friday, and I don't play online yet I've run into a good bit of errors and other fuckery. Only playing campaign I noticed the biggest problems with the checkpoints not actually hitting, I'd get stuck at a door that should open multiple times, having to restart and play it again and hope it caught, usually would catch on the second or third try but come on, thats crap (this was in H2). Ran into a bunch of bad stuttering in H1 that was super annoying, like I was playing it remote across half the world, except I wasn't.

I wish they would offer this to anyone that's played it, not just online, because I actually thought ODST was one of the better ones, that and reach and H2. Just my thoughts

Welcome to the era of game development where QA is an extinct concept when it comes to silly activities that produce nothing. Get off your couch and find a job. Perhaps start an exclusive QA for Games company. :D
