Just a heads up on the times, they are a’changin’. Remember to set your clocks back an hour before going to bed tonight. Also, the Fireman’s Association recommends that you change the batteries in your smoke detectors at the same time to keep those detectors working when you need them most. If you have a complaint concerning Daylight Saving, please direct them to Ben Franklin, he’s the genius who dreamed all of this up.

Do they get a cut from Duracell or something?? ;)

Seriously though... a 'GOOD' battery will last 6-7 years in a smoke detector. Why would I change it twice a year?? I think I'll just keep pushing the button every few weeks or so to make sure it's working. ;)

Hurray another day of everyone saying "we should just get rid of daylight saving time, I like the way the sun is in the summer" </facepalm>

F*ckem. I'll take my extra hour of sleep monday morning.

I'd rather they push the hour forward again. I hate coming home from work at 5pm and it's dark already.

Well tbh... it really IS unnecessary. I don't see any benefit to it... where I live anyhow.

I hate Daylight savings time. It's pointless. :( Who cares how dark it is when you go or come home from work? (other than Pringals :) )

That's so much bullshit. Batteries sitting on a shelf don't last 6 or 7 years, let alone being used in a device that's active 24/7/365.

It's really asinine to be so cheap and worry about the cost of some cheap ass batteries, over the lives of people.

Thanks, always useful to know when US DST ends, was only 1 week out of sync with the UK this year, was fairly easy to manage cross country live events.

My smoke detectors are wired into the house...they have a battery back up. We only change them when the low battery warning comes on. Chances of all 8 of them going out at once is.....err...you can google it if you really want to know.

what EVER

last I checked those bastards were like $5 each

I didn't read that the first time... no wonder he doesn't trust a battery if he is buying junk. Pay 3-4$ and buy a Duracell and no more issues.

What does it mean when DST falls on your birthday.

DST needs to end forever...

Aside from North American and Europe, most of the world has dumped the annoying clock change antics. Wish the USA would too (I have no desire to move to Arizona where they don't have it).

No more sunlight after work
I hate standard time.

I know that it would happen eventually, regardless, but there was still an hour of usable light after work... It really sucks to be in the dark for 5 months out of the year, with the only sunlight I see during the week is when I pass by a window or have a lunch break at the office.

Hawaii is nice ... and I see you can buy land on the big island really cheap :D

What sucks is that I work nights, 7PM til 7AM. So at 2AM here in about an hour, the clocks are going to go back an hour but we're still not getting off til 7AM so we're going to pull a 13 hour shift. Ugh.

We could techincally put in for comp time since we dont get overtime but we can rarely take the comp time we get now because we're always so short handed.

Every year I think I hate Daylight Saving Time a little more.

Most of the world never had it because they weren't industrialized at the turn of the century and thus had no need to deal with time zones and issues with daylight while farming was the majority of work.

This shit has to end, if people are worried about smoke detectors running out of power then have a trade in event for newer ones that warn you the batteries are getting low.

My apartment had the hardwired and battery backups and the chirps were annoying as hell when they got low.

Oh ya, I live in mid Florida, we get plenty of sun!

Daylight savings ending means that I get to go home from work at 6 AM instead of 7 AM.

What about the day you gain an hour?
