Should I Wait to Upgrade to 30" LCD?

I've got a decent Samsung 24" LCD PC monitor. It does everything great except scale out to larger screen real-estate. I either game on my 2013 I7 gaming PC or dock my MacBook Pro to it via HDMI in both cases. I just don't know what a good 28-30" LCD is. I selected my current display based on the brand / minimal bezel wrapped around the glass / and price.

I know there's a lot of 4K LCD's coming out which obviously trends prices lower on anything that's not a 4K monitor nor would I be able to use one really effectively but I'm just looking for display recommendations in the 28" - 30" range that are worth mentioning.

Thanks for any help / suggestions / recommendations

Everything 4K that's available now - or just released - exclusing high-end TVs, is pretty much low-spec / first shots from the major manufacturers who are currently concentrating on selling stocks for Xmas and testing the market for new products.

More interesting and advanced models usually get presented/listed during Q1, so considering current 4K panels kind of suck picture quality and connectivity-wise, I would wait a bit to avoid being soon disappointed in owning a completely-outdated-a-few-months-after-release monitor.

LCD panel technology is at a crossroads, transitioning from HD to 4K, and it's usually a bad idea to purchase the early models.
At least wait for worthy 4K IPS panels with a minimum real 60Hz full-frame support (I expect to see those come out sometime during 2015).

Yeah okay, high-end, pro/prosumer monitors are nice but how many people spend this much for home/gaming use anyway ?
Plus those are almost never reviewed and can have very disappointing lag and response.

And i tend to disagree that even these "high-end" are nice .. even with one overpaying A LOT, you still get monitor with MST & accompanying tearing fun and glitches with no buggy support in gpus / no gpu scale and alike, display size for 4K is still not sufficient for nice usage experience without having to deal with scaling problems. So yes .. waiting is better, when prices will drop, when better & bigger 4K screens then as of now will be released + when nvidia may drop prices on 970/980 a bit, due amd releasing their next gpus (again - not now). Buying 4K now you gonna overpay much for problematic usage experience, though i guess it's normal for those wishing to be early adopters no matter what.

The problem with monitors right now is even if the manufacturer has a HDMI 2.0 TV they are cutting costs and only providing HDMI 1.4 on their monitors to save a few bucks even while charging $2k for the monitors, which means you can only run DP. The downside here is you have to run a thicker cable for the same distance run compared to HDMI, as DP signals are weaker than HDMI and thick DP cables are expensive. I had to drop $140 for a 15 foot 24 awg DP cable, the equivalent HDMI cable is $15. All in all if you don't mind input lag, TVs are larger and cheaper right now.
