Remember the hacker that stole over $9.4 million from a credit card processor back in 2008? Well, he was finally sentenced and he ended up getting 11 years in prison and ordered to pay $8.4 million restitution.

A leader of one of the most sophisticated cybercrime rings in the world has been brought to justice and sentenced,” said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates. “In just one day in 2008, an American credit card processor was hacked in perhaps one of the most sophisticated and organized computer fraud attacks ever conducted. Almost exactly one year later, the leaders of this attack were charged. This prosecution was successful because of the efforts of the victim, and unprecedented cooperation from various law enforcement agencies worldwide.

Gee, over those 11 years, the 1 million he had left and the 9.4 million he held over the last 6 years should have generated enough interest to make a nice retirement kinda thing if he was smart about investing his money when he still had it.

So he stole $9.4 million and only had to pay back $8.4 million ? I'd consider doing 11 years in prison for $1 million.

11 years for one megadollar? No way.

I have a relative in prison right now. Hearing about the shit he goes through...I've come to the conclusion that prison life SUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.

Uh nuh. Hell no. Or as Lana from Archer would say, "Noooooooooope!"

If I ever get rich I'll stop back and get your contact info. That way if I ever get in trouble you can plead guilty to the crime for me for that million. :D In other countries you can legally pay people to do the time for you, if I ever got in trouble then I'd wish we had that in the US, too.

Because I would never (NEVER EVER) consider doing 11 years in prison for a measly million dollars. F**k that! I love money like the next man but I don't think I'd do 11 years in prison for a million a year, and I'm not a wealthy man...lol. It takes too much out of you as a decent human being.

I did a year in the local penitentiary when I was 18 (many many years ago) and, nope. Deterred.

A million dollars really isnt that much. You'd probably earn that much in the same amount of time with a joint income if you were married, of course I suppose that is another kind of prison :D

At least in prison one would have a higher chance of getting laid.

Curious how he is going to pay it back. A lot of times, your assets are frozen and money is confiscated. If that's the case, they would have most of the money that was stolen. However, if not, good luck getting the money.
11 years is a long time. Even with good behavior (if that's even a thing, I no little about the Justice system), you are probably looking at 5-10 years? Let this be a lesson.

I wouldn't either that guy is crazy.

Just to get your butt hole de-virginized in prison numerous times over that year 11 span.

No thanks I love money as much as the next guy but my dignity is worth more than that.

Not all prisons are bad. We have white collar low security prisons where you'll have healthcare w/ dental and vision, three school cafeteria style lunches a day, and you can spend your time exercising with a free gym membership, watching TV, read, play games, have conjugal visits, and improving your skills by taking various courses available to you. Hell, save for the lack of internet, its basically what most of us do on a day-to-day basis without having to work.

With that much time, shit, you could come out with a doctorate and a million bucks! ;)

That's like saying not all people in a war zone get killed. Yes, that's true, but it's still a war zone.

I've seen prisons like that in the movies. People I've known, TV shows on prison life, never show those prisons. They must be somewhere else.

I think you'd need to spend that million (or more) getting transferred to that prison you speak of on day one = no money when you get out.

I've seen a big tough guy get his head smashed into a concrete wall (cheap shot first = when he wasn't even paying attention), a guy get his eye stabbed out with a sharpened green toothbrush (He actually later on asked me if it looked bad and I said can you see out of it, he said no, I said yes, it's bad then), or my cell robbed two different times by some starving black bangers and had to fight one of the guys in my cell to save face (not let others do it to me), and seen a couple guys try to commit suicide. Example: Climbing up the bars to the top of the second floor (so like three floors) and jump head first onto the concrete floor. Oh yeah, that was the local penitentiary, NOT PRISON. Oh, yeah, I was punched (snuffed) in the back of the head by some black guy named TooTall (street name) doing like 15 years on drugs and weapon charges because I was handing out the food to the locked in inmates (violent ones) and I wouldn't give him the extra juices I got afterwords for handing out the shit to them. I ended up grabbing a food tray off the cart and smashed him with it until the guards broke us up. Yes, cheating, but he probably would've got me without doing it. :D

Your prison could look like the penthouse of the bellagio, the mere act of being restricted from leaving is enough to drive most people crazy after awhile. 11 years is hard time no matter what the environment.

You might, but since I make better then a million in 8 years I think I'll pass.

May be, but some are certainly harder then others.
