Yea, but gender really has nothing to do with it. Gender is a smokescreen. This is just hate, it's been hate from the start and there are haters on both sides. In this particular case tho, some of the haters think that their lofty position on the media futon affords them protections and authority which they do not actually posses. It's starting to show and MS is just the start.

They can preach and slander and hate all they want. But when they start threatening the big boy's wallets then the hammers come out :cool:

I keep reading about this even though I originally did not care. It keeps popping up on the internet. Has the doomsday clock hit midnight yet? Would make for a nice change in headlines. This is one of those things that I just want to run around slapping everyone involved, starting with my self so that I might hopefully regain my senses.

That's just it though. There ARE games for EVERYONE, and EVERY TYPE of player out there. Sure there are more that probably don't appeal to women in a broad sense, but people are more than welcome to create more games that do. Just because there are some games with sexy themes, and over the top characters doesn't mean they're all like that. They cater to those who enjoy them. There are plenty more that cater to those who do not. Just like movies, music, TV, books, and every other form of communication. If a game doesn't suit you, read the label, make an informed decision, and buy something that you DO like. It's not difficult. What makes people angry is that someone gets up on a 20' tall horse, and says, I don't like what's in the game YOU ARE PLAYING. I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure that people don't make games like that anymore. They say nothing of making MORE GAMES THAT AREN'T LIKE THAT. Just about depriving someone else of something that they enjoy.

I also believe that most reasonable male gamers are VERY inclusive, and are constantly trying to get more female players involved. I've NEVER seen someone try to tell a girl/woman to get away this is my hobby. If anything I've seen MANY women/girls who just weren't interested despite everyone trying to get them to join in. I think men find it very cool when women take an interest in something they do. In fact, I've seen many cases where a character type that might be offensive to one of these overly-sensitive media types was thought of as cool or "badass" by women. I've seen a lot of women that I've known think sexy comic book style heroines were cool.

I think most of the negativity stems from self-esteem issues more than anything else. I hate men who treat women badly. HATE them. But I also think people like these journalists pushing this nonsense need to grow a thicker skin, make better informed decisions about what they play, and leave everyone else alone.

There's plenty of games out there for every taste. If some third-wave victim feminist bitch wants to try to change the industry to remove sexy women from games, she can go fuck herself. No, she'll say, the industry must adapt to me and my tastes. Fuck that and fuck everyone who thinks like that. It's exactly the same as an immigrant who refuses to learn the values and customs of their host culture, instead complaining about the many ways in which it fails to cater to them adequately. Some few members of my own family fall into this category, and I cannot properly describe my contempt for them here.

Gamers are always trying to get women to join in. It makes it more fun when you can game with your girl.

I am not saying their aren't inclusive games. I am just saying we probably as a whole should be better about how women are portrade in the majority of games.

Now do I think all games need to be PC? No. I love the Dead or Alive games, but those games are all about the pinup style, and they are made for a specific fanbase. The problem is when the majority of games follow the same tropes without thinking that they cause problems.

All I was saying is that we should try and be better, not that we should instantly stop playing the games we love, or start to hate ourselves.

I also wrote that gaming sites should lay off because they are making this a bigger issue than it is. Really it is time for all of this crazyness to end.

I wasn't arguing with you directly. I only quoted your post as a segue into my own thoughts. I'm all for expanding to more audiences, just not at the expense of existing ones.

The majority of the T&A fan-service games are from Japan or South Korea.
Talk to them about it if you want it to end; the majority of games made in the US or Europe have very strong, respectable female leads.

These articles are just hate-filled people (men and women) with huge insecurity-complexes and because of this, are not geared toward equality, but sexual/racial supremacy, period.

Also, there are some games, movies, books, shows with content that I think is pretty disgusting really. I'm not going to argue that other people can't enjoy them though. I will decide that something is not for me, then ignore it, or keep my own kids from consuming it. That's up to the individual. Not me, not some media-idiot (or "mediot" from now on.)

Even the "best" whatever that means, people have their own little sordid fantasies. Even these people spouting against sexualized characters in games. I'm not going to tell them they can't enjoy theirs, so they should give me or anyone else the same respect. They're completely free to give their opinions. It's when they try to force them that gets people upset. It's when they put others down for disagreeing, even if they do it in a respectful, well thought out manner, that causes problems. Some of them even make a good point here or there, but it becomes lost when they keep going to extremes.

That's more than I really wanted to say. I've been keeping out of all of this discussion for months.

Anyway, Go Intel! Don't back extremists, and know who your audience is.
 
I don't care about the politics, and I don't care about someones ideas of social justice. I care about games. Not to be a prick, but I don't care if that girl does not like a game, I care if I like a game. And as long as I spend more coin on games than that girl, they are going to cater to my wants over hers.
Scantily clad, beautiful women are more pleasing to look at than ugly ones afaic. So guess which ones the devs are going to put in games. Live with it, code your own games, or buy enough games that your opinion matters as much as my own.
Quit assigning some woman hating political agenda to what is clearly nothing more than giving their primary customers what they want.

I am glad Intel pulled their advertising. They are advertising to us gamers after all, and we gamers are over according to Gamasutra. No sense advertising to us anymore.

Yeah, a bunch of crap really. I find it kind of funny too, since one of my favoritest games of all times (EVAR!!!) is Kings Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella. And that game actually starred (gasp!)... A woman! :eek: And honestly? No one cared then, and really - no one cares now.

Are you even aware that you are one of the haters that lcpiper refers to? No matter how rational you think your views are or how much truth might be mixed in with all the contempt and hatred, it doesn't help your cause when people recoil at the way in which you express them. Being as ugly as the SJWs is not the way to defeat them.

This is a large part of why I had trouble with the anti-SJW viewpoint for so long - there was so much hate speech and felony-level harassment that it was easy to dismiss it all as pure misogyny. There is still so much bile being flung by anti-SJWs that even though I'm finally understanding what it is they're angry about, it's still a movement that I cannot associate myself with.

I was on my way to have surgery today and not in a great mood. This story brightened up my day! Thank you Intel, and thank you Hardocp for reporting it. I literally read the story on my smartphone just before they brought me into the operating room.
 
We should all get uni-sex changes and reproduce in tubes. Like a bunch of ken dolls. Remove all sex organs and take hormones to make us all alike. The 4 Billion years of evolution that created countless billions of people of all different kinds is soooooo broken. Lets all bleach our skin too, to erase all differences period. That would fix everything...

Good move by Intel. Any hardware and software companies that are related to gaming should do the same. It makes no sense to advertise on a site that is anti gamer.
