Any of the cool new Maxwell 2 anti-aliasing modes (DSR, MFSAA) work with Maxwell 1?

As above. While I know the conventional answer is that the 750 Ti doesn't have the horsepower to do it, that really only applies to modern games.

I play some relatively ancient games, that would have no issue with quadrupling (or more) their resolution and result in no performance difference at all - including some that don't work right with MSAA, so...would love to try that downsampling AA on them.

Without...uhhh...spending $500 for a video card when I'm already getting 400 fps in the game on a 750 Ti...

I believe only the GTX 970 and 980 support these new features exclusively. I'm pretty sure Brent said that in either the GTX 980 review article or in the forum thread.

Sorry

Looks like that at the moment, yeah - I guess the question is more whether this is a hardware thing, or just a driver thing (IE., nVidia has only exposed the capability in drivers for Maxwell 2, but it could be made to work on Maxwell 1, too).

True, they have always been programable GPU's so something like MFAA and DSR could be added since I believe they are both software based. I'm not sure if DSR uses the new NVENC encoder and uses H.265 for DSR in any way but if it doesn't it should be a matter of adding support in the software/drivers.

In the Q&A Tom Petersen mentioned that DSR will in time make it to Kepler and the other Maxwell cards, but not Fermi. They are still working on it and doing the QA, etc.

I don't think he addressed the question with regard to MFAA though.

In our briefing, it was mentioned that MFAA requires hardware that Maxwell has, that Kepler and Fermi don't have. I don't think you'll see MFAA except on Maxwell.

DSR, you may see on Kepler.

He's asking about his GTX 750 Maxwell based card, it's possible that only the 980/970 cards have the hardware they mentioned? Maybe maxwell 1.0 users are SOL?

I'm pretty happy with just DSR, actually, and if that is coming to Kepler, it would seem pretty obvious that even Maxwell 1 could get it.

But it's a good question RE: MFAA on Maxwell 1, anyway, if THAT can't come to Kepler.
