I showed he the note 3, made a paper mock up and showed her every video comparing sizes...she said the wanted the plus... so i go up at midnight and ordered it.

it came today and within 5 mins of using it she said she couldnt hold it one handed and that her wrist hurt from using it to text....

needless to say I was super sad :(

I have my own plus coming and after using hers i know I am going to love it.

if anyone else has a wife that loves to have buyers remorse and return crap the 6 plus is perfect for that..... and she will end up with the 6

The plus is just a tad too wide. I wish it was just a quarter inch smaller. I like the height, though.

I could see the iPhone 7 coming in three sizes, 4.7", 5" and 5.5". I think 5" is the sweet spot for a top tier phone.

Apple already tried and rejected 5'' as a suitable size. They aren't going to introduce a new resolution at 5'', either, since it doesn't fit into the Retina scaling math they have going.

My prediction for next year: iPhone 6s at 4.7'' and 5.5'', as per Apple's usual tick refreshes, and a 4'' iPhone 6s (possibly iPhone 6sc) if Apple wants to keep the low price phone going, which they likely do.

Hopefully the change up the design a little bit with the 6S and maybe up the resolution a bit. Get rid of the shitty looking antenna lines at the very least.

Couldn't they just use a 1080P screen like a lot of 5" phones have these days? Of course that would mean the larger phone would have to have a higher res display with the way things work with iPhones I guess. No biggie, I simply think that 5.5" is a bit on the large size and 4.7" is a bit too small for my tastes and that I think 5" is sweet spot, that's become a pretty popular screen size.

You have to remember that they will keep the top/bottom bezel, so the 4.7" phone is as big as most other 5" phones. A 5" iPhone would be too big, unless they somehow remove the home button or top/bottom bezels.

I would get the 4.7 inch. But it's missing features compared to the 5.5

Not really. Doesn't fit the Retina math. The iPhone 6 Plus is rendered at 1242x2208 (@3X) and then downscaled to 1080x1920. Not much point to doing this on a 5'' screen, it just breaks things for developers. That's Android's game.

The only "missing" features are some extra commands in the landscape keyboard and hardware image stabilization. The former doesn't matter, the latter is made up for with software image stabilization.

The 6 actually tops the 6 Plus in some ways; for instance, a higher contrast ratio.

I really hope they keep the smallest size. I don't really need to upgrade from my 5s anyway so it's not a big deal, but when I do decide to upgrade in another year or two I'm worried that they'll just keep getting larger or phase out the smaller screen size.

Have fun returning the phone man lol. I personally would've gotten the iPhone 6 because I feel like the Plus is too big for my small hands and will be hard taking it out if its in my pocket.

she went to the ATT store and returned it $30 restocking fee... got the 6. It will ship in 4-5 days is what she was quoted.

My 6 plus will be here tomorrow!

btw i knew I was opening myself up to some shots with that title :) No worries

Man, I just wonder how people got these. I was up that night, all over the ordering. Regardless, I'm still looking at sometime in October for my Plus.

Same. The battery and OIS sold me on the 6+ over the 6, but I am finding the larger size a bit awkward to hold. I wish, at the very least, that the 6 had OIS.

It comes in three sizes....

Wee,

Not so wee,

and Freakin' Huge!

FWIW... I am REALLY suprised at the 5.5".... I can honestly say I figured Apple would come out with an iPhone 6 the SAME size as the old 5 and 5s... THEN a larger phone that is 4.7". This 5.5" phablet thing they have going on is ABSURD.

Its sad that with soo much screen estate they didnt bother enable split-screen multiasking. Note seems mighty attractive caz of this single feature. Feeling they might enable it with iOS 9+ but if it is enabled then running it on 1 year old hardware might not be worth it.

It's rumored that split screen for iOS is in the works. With the rumors of a 12.9" iPad coming, the two seem to support each other. I think that the notion of multitasking on tablets is overrated generally on smaller devices. On larger ones it makes more sense.

How many people truly split screen multitask on their phone to the point that its a desirable feature and not a dick measuring tool?

Phablets are the in-thing the last few years in Asia. I've only travelled to Hong Kong, Macau, China, Japan, and Taiwan, but they all had one thing in common: a good amount of them are phablet users. This is very apparent when you are riding in the trains/subway.

I imagine the 6 Plus is to capture the growing market. The people who own the phablets tend to be people with money. People with money will spend more in the App Store/buy into the ecosystem, etcetera (see article). This is nothing new. Apple strategy has been to capture the high end market, which are more willing to spend their money.

We know who does. Hint, he mentions it in pretty much every single thread. :p

To be honest, I do feel that it could be handy is certain situations, but probably wouldn't use it much. I certainly wouldn't mind it

There is a lot of things a lot of people wouldn't mind having, but aren't useful enough for everyday use to warrant companies spending time on developing said idea.

I agree actually. I'm not even sure a 7" device would benefit from split-screen. I am guessing you'd have to be in the 9" category.

I wouldn't use it on my iPad Air. I mean, if it was available I would probably end up using it from time to time, but I'm certainly not missing it nor do I have a need for it.

I don't even see people using split screen on their full sized monitors for the most part. I'm just not seeing this huge demand for concurrent split screen app usage.

There's zero demand for split-screen usage. It's just a bullet point that Apple haters think they can use to hammer with.

Gotta love the absolute statements.

Split screen not offered in the first place with no hints of the features ever coming to iOS, how will there be any measured demand for the feature?

Also, I use split screen in Windows habitually, even in Metro. It kills me that is not in OSX, so I got Divvy.

You have the cause and effect of feature development backwards.

That how Apple works really. Refuse to release obvious features until they see measurable demand, instead of creating the demand themselves.
Right now, they are reacting to the smartphone market.

what would you do on your phone in split screen that you can't already do by simply going through the task manager?

Copy and pasting info, or looking at info that isn't copyable (like out of a picture) and typing that in on a different screen. I have done all this on my note, sure you can do it by switching apps but its so much easier doing it split screen.

Or comparing two products in two different screens. It really is a quite handy feature.

I already understand that split screen makes it easier for some people to do the things they'd like to do, but that's not what I asked.

I am asking what you can do with split screen that you can *not* do via task manager.

The problem that people have is that they have a check list of things that they feel is important and those simply aren't high priorities for certain consumers. If I had that feature I would use it from time to time. There are things I feel are more important that the iPhone does better than almost all of my android based phones have been able to do. I prefer the features that Apple has focused on refining in iOS; for the most part they were better before those same features were addressed in android.

also, I should mention that I never bothered looking for multi-tasking apps because I prefer how Apple's multitasking functions. Here is a list of options for both non-jailbroken and jailbroken devices. I'm jailbroken but I just don't bother with features I don't need.

I use split screen in windows all the time, but there is a difference between using it on a 23 inch monitor vs. a 4.x inch monitor that is touch.

On top of that, I cannot thing of one time that I have ever needed it...and most people are probably the same. I just don't think the demand is there.

We are talking about the 6+ right? Not 4" phones.
Split works well on 5.5" devices and above. iOS8 allows certain apps to have two windows/divs when rotated to landscape i.e. mail.
So Apple can enable split between two apps if they choose.

Anything over 5.5" is a productivity device thus a phablet, not just a phone.
Phones don't need 5.5" displays.
