A playable build of Unreal Tournament is now online for those of you interested. This is a pre-alpha build so you can expect a lot of stuff like bugs, placeholder art and so on. Hit the link above for instructions on how to install the game.

Unreal Tournament is still very early in development, so the build is incomplete, buggy, full of placeholder art and therefore is not in any way representative of the ultimate vision for the game. You really shouldn't play it now! We’ve made it available to Unreal Tournament forum members so they can try the game out and offer constructive feedback on these forums, or maybe even jump in and start contributing.

I realize this is early alpha but...
After looking at that I just keep asking myself, do we really need this?

UT2004 or hell, pick your favorite, not much different.

Looks like the same old UT, not sure that's good or not so good

Well considering it's in really early stages, I could take an old UT style shooter with improved graphics and weapons, new maps, maybe vehicles? would be insanely fun.

We will see how things turn out.
I am still looking forward to trying it, I guess my opinion is still in Alpha stage also.

I have actually played about 5 hours of this pre-alpha and it is fun, but it really feels like I am running around with a full 60-pound crucible pack on my back. Just really sluggish.

I will note however that it has elements of all versions of UT in it and I'm not just talking about the maps.

None the less, it's still fun and a good alternative to the modern warfare games out there... and I got to kill Fatal1ty a few times too hehe.

Original UT is still king IMO. Watched the video and Fatal1ty plays like a total noob! haha

high picmip = good
lack of dodge + jump = bad

Most likely gonna skip this UT99 redone crap. UT2003/4 is the game they should be emulating.

Its PRE ALPHA , lol cmon guy. They don't even have textures on the maps yet or the new weapons.

Yeah Metro is doing a redux. How would original UT redux do? I know I'd be in

Can't you read, man? I LIKE THE LACK OF TEXTURES. It's the movement that I dislike.

They talk about having game modes to cover a wider spectrum of game styles, especially if the community is behind it. No reason they can't have more 2k4 inspired maps and mechanics in there as well as the old-school ones. They made picking up the dev kit and making those pretty easy.

this is basically call of duty with Unreal weapons. And the sniper rifle,again...YAWN!

I can read, and this is what you wrote:

Edit: Try to speak in terms that we who don't mod or develop games can understand you.

no need to be a mod or developer to use google

That is painful to watch, he has God awful aim. I thought this guy was supposed to be good?

one of the areas i was impressed was the few times he used a shock combo, and hit the ball after he moved and re adjusted his aim, that does take skill. 99% of players will just stand still.

i found it wierd that he didnt look around or wouldnt stay facing outward when he would pick up something in a cubby hole.

and all the times he cursor was aimed at a wall when rounding a corner instead of at the edge where an enemy would be likely to bee vulnerable first.

omfg this game play looks so much faster than that dumbed down slow aim shit that console players play.

He is good...at getting his name and face plastered all over a bunch of "gaming" products.

This is too slow, should be perfect for older people like myself.. Loved Unreal via dialup and UT on LAN back when LAN was something games allowed for.

Speaking of old, Fatal1ty must be getting old too. That was a really poor performance - look at that aim?!

seeing as your reach your peak performance at 25 and Fatal1ty is 33... he's not getting better ;-)

Yeah, we sort of need GitzZz streaming. Or some a skilled player in top form like Cypher, or toxic.

ut2k4 with better gfx please :)

as long as its not ut3 i think the community will be happy

You can dodge and a roll in all 4 directions, although fatality didn't use them. There are wall jumps. If you crouch over a ledge, you can also lean without falling.

Boots are silly and lame. Dodge is no good without a jump. I am sorry to say it blows

Guys, this is a barely-working pre-alpha engine demo, and you all are talking about it like it's a retail release. The hell is wrong with you?

I hope it is as good as UT3. That game got me into PC gaming in high school. I remember building (with classmates in the CIT program) a gaming pc just to run this. Antec 900 case like JUST came out. Was awesome time.

Ya I saw that, too. Pretty impressive. So was his use of the flak's ricochet. Not sure what you mean by the last part, though.

If you guys are honestly judging Falal1ty based on this video you must be absurd. He's trying weapons 1 by 1 and just putzing around the map. I played with some of the top competitive players in UT2k4 and got wrecked. For every 10 kills on me, I may net 1-2 on them. The people who wrecked me, got wrecked by Fatal1ty and I wasn't a slouch to begin with. I've played against Kaizen people, SK people, Short Bus Passengers and Fatal1ty generally rocked them all.
