Need assistance from people with 290 and 2/3 displays to troubleshoot 2d issues

Hi all,

I think I ran into an extreme case here, but its driving me nuts.. I need someone with 2 (preferably 3) monitors to please try and reproduce what I am having, to verify if this is a driver issue or a hardware issue:

setup:
-Single Sapphire R9 290 TRIX (750W seasonic PSU if relevant)
-Driver version is irrelevant as I have had this happening on all 14.x and 13.x drivers.
-have 3 monitors (mine are 1920X1200) connected with Eyefinity disabled (so 3 independent 1920X1200 monitors)
-Windows 7 with Aero fully enabled (specifically "transparent glass")

Issue:

1-Open up any window (folder/web browser etc), set to not be Maximized and move it from one monitor to the other quickly, at my setup this generates heavy lagging of the window animation, so much that even my sister's Atom notebook does a better job at keeping the Aero experience smooth.

2-At Photoshop (again, version irrelevant) select the "selection tool" and attempt to select objects, this generates heavy lag and the selection tool animation will be really slow.

Issue 1 will take place only if i use more than 1 monitor with Eyefinity disabled, and "Transparent glass" enabled.
Issue 2 will always occur no matter what my setup is.

*I have tried to set the GPU to run at full clock speeds with afterburner while in 2D (windows) environment but this made no change.
**I have seen the 2D slow-down issue at other various software such as Counter strike GO menu etc, but prefer to keep it as I have posted as photoshop is more widespread than specific games are.
***With my 5850 everything works perfectly smooth with the same rig.

Would love to hear from anyone who can reproduce this if they are having the same issues or is it my card.
Thank you!

I have an xfx R290 with 3 monitors (non-eyefinity running 1920x1200 each) I too have Aero fully enabled, but I have experienced none of the lag.

Thank you for the response, are you running windows 7?
i might just get it back to the store and have them replace it if its just mine

Im running 3 monitors on sig rig with no issues with either of those things in your original post.

Although I am running Windows 8.1, I don't think its a hardware issue, have you reformatted or willing to try windows 8?

Did you make sure you plugged in the 6 and 4 pin power plugs?

6 and 4 pin plugged in (is there a way to monitor this at gpuz other than the 12v?)
ill try and install win 8 and see how it goes, i do agree that it sounds like a software issue.. i thought it was something down to drivers, but i guess not.

sounds like it could be.... a power supply issue. the other GPU will draw much less power and might not cause the PSU to be bad....

I am assuming you have run memtest and prime95 to determine stability and your RAM is good?

it "might" be the card... but it sounds like something else. I have a similar setup to you but on W8.1

try downclocking your GPU and see what happens...

BTW I have a Corsair HX850 that runs fine until i get close to 70% load on it and then it just shuts off.... so PSUs can be bad and we dont know it because they are not being pushed hard enough...
