Hi,

I needed some help purchasing the Samsung u28d590d monitor.
Last time I saw on slickdeal and newegg, the lowest I saw was $580
today, when I was web searching, I heard they sell this on ebay also which I looked up.
There seems to be couple sellers from south korea that sells monitors.
The lowest I saw was $559 today, and was wondering if there are any chance these monitors could be defect or a refurbished ones.
It seems a little off that it is cheaper than the ones selling locally.

The link below is the one I saw $559

PLEASE, IF ANYONE PURCHASED FROM THIS SELLER BEFORE, LET ME KNOW HOW IT WENT.

Thank you!!!

The small amount of $ saved isn't worth it when this monitor can be purchased from local retailers or online retailers like Amazon which offer hassle free return and exchange policies. Doubt Samsung will honor the warranty either.

Are you sure you want a 600$ TN panel which doesn't look better than 150$ TN panels color wise and requires extreme gpu horsepower to run games with high settings? The higher resolution does not magically make everything look better and the U28590D has a 20ms delay which is lame for a TN panel.

Save yourself 200$ and get a Yamakasi Catleap (1440p IPS which can OC up to 120hz) or 2x 1440p Qnix/X-Star's if you want lots of screen real-estate without scaling issues, poor colors and viewing angles.

Yeah honestly, don't bother. I caved and bought one and I personally think its a piece of crap, and am flogging it off at a loss (I picked it up on ebay for 560).

I have a Crossover 27 and Dell 3011 and both of these monitors crap all over it imo

TN, not even once

Monitors are or can be to some extent a subjective type of thing.

I have two Auria 27" IPS 2560x1440 monitors that I think are quite good and cost about ~$399 each at Microcenter. I also have three ASUS 27" TN 1920x1080 monitors which I like very much. In addition to this I also have a Samsung U28D590D 28" 3840x2160 (60Hz) monitor which IMO is quite reasonably good for the money in today's market. And finally I also have a 39" Seiki 4K UHDTV 3840x2160 (30Hz) which actually surprises me a little each time I use it.

I see the limitations of each display but I also see their merits and I am quite satisfied.

If price is a problem though you might want to consider waiting a bit. As the market becomes saturated with models coming from different manufacturers the price will most likely start to go down. My guess is within six months to a years time you"ll have more choices and lower prices.

It's what an individual bring to the table in the way of expectations that will help shape your opinion of a given product. If you think you'll be satisfied knowing the price and specs of the Samung U28D590D then go for it. If not, then don't,.....
