Hi all,

Patiently awaiting release of Devil's Canyon. I was able to snag three U2311H's super cheap a while back and would like to go Eyefinity (at least for a handful of games). I don't have a video card yet as I'm holding off on making a choice. My question is if I'm not playing overly demanding games, and my gaming is limited to older/weaker content like WoW, and Skyrim, and the like, what would be a good video card to start with that I can just SLI with in the future? I have no interest n BF4, or Watchdogs, or anything like that.

I read in some places that people run weaker games fine at 5760x1080 with a 280 or roundabout that type of performance. System otherwise will be a 4690k OCed to wherever it goes and 16gb RAM, with an EVGA 750w G2. I'm not crazy with settings either in most games and at that res, things like AA, I won't even care much about.

Just curious on what you guys think, it seems like something with 3GB RAM+ is my only real option.

I'm running 3 unlocked 290x cards with 3 u2713s and most games I play don't actually support crossfire and a single 290x runs damn near everything just fine.

I wouldn't go with anything under a 290 or 780 if you plan to run triple monitors.

Depending on how you set your video settings. I've ran three w/ a single gtx 670 2gb b4. Med/low settings though.

I'm enjoying eyefinity on two 6950's in Crossfire. 2GB of ram each. As long as I turn off AA, I'm usually good to go. A few games I've had to turn down to high / medium, but for the most part I can run ultra settings.

2600k@ 4.4Ghz and 8GB of ddr3 2400 behind 'em though >__>

Just played through BF4 on high last weekend :D (singleplayer)

A 280 will run that resolution at medium. Bare minimum would be a 265 or 270. Those cards would run at ~low.

Nvidia has the 760, which is about as fast as a 280, but I don't think much testing has been done to compare the two at higher resolutions, where AMD generally holds better value. That said, I had a customer set up three monitors with a 660Ti and WoW ran in the triple-digits of FPS.

I ran triples on a single 7979 (280x), for a long time. Currently have a single 780 and all is well, settings are high enough to keep me happy. If you are going dual card later, I'd stay away from anything older than a 290 or 290x if you go AMD, still some issues with xfire and eyefinity on the older cards.

Those are my thoughts. I wish there was a decent option other than AMD, but I had a 7970 for the longest time and it was great so I can't hate on them. Something like the 760 though, just the RAM is low.
