Did hell freeze over? This looks like a streaming only account type for those that want HBO and pretty much nothing else...

Most likely reading too much into the add. It likely means their network supports HBO and Streampix. But to access a service such as HBO, you typically need to be a paying HBO customer (ie: paying for HBO channel in your TV service).

I also don't see that offer on their page, but other offers which include HBO state in the "Details and restrictions" that TV service and channel subscription are required.

I obviously didn't include the headers, but it seems to include the most basic package of TV service (See the 10+ "View Lineup"), and clearly states "HBO and Streampix included". I actually think someone goofed entering promos, because otherwise this is a damn good deal.

Edit: Updated the original post to show location and section...

Maybe I was given essentially the same deal with the higest teir but its just a trap cause I think HBO is 14.99 after 1 year plus whatever increase on basic TV.

It's still better than the $140+ I'm paying now, for the same service (Albeit with 200+ channels I don't watch). Seems like they caved to people wanting HBO Go, and getting around it by offering the ~10 cable channels.

Its only available for 12 months, that's the problem. Comcast has been offering things like this all the time.

...then rape you anally there after.

This, I have the blast plus combo but it's without the contract. They really jack the price up on the deals after the first year, and if you get sucked in by the 2 year contract deals (they're 10 bucks a month cheaper for the first year) you can't get out of it without paying an early termination fee. I have the internet plus blast for $55 a month. Also note that this doesn't include any DVR service, if you want a DVR that plays HD you have to add $18 a month onto that price. Hence why I use a cablecard, I can avoid the "HD fee" bullshit and the extra cost of a DVR by using a $110 HDHR prime that'll pay for itself in less than 10 months.

Their pricing methods are shit but you if you avoid some of the bigger charges (DVRs and "extra outlet" fees) you can come out only modestly molested.

I'm just going the Blast/ATV3 route, and having HBO is icing on the cake. There are other ways to get it, but I'm willing to pay if it's offered. There's no use for the 10 channels though, not interested in using it.

Did you read the details and restrictions by chance?

Late last year I switched from $65 month internet only to a local comcast office blast deal that came with HBO and 50MBs internet for $70 a month for the first year, $80 a month for the 2nd year. It was a much better deal then the internet deals. Had to throw in another $10 a month for HDTV that includes a single HD box. Also have 2 of the cheap converts, which have a limited amount of channels but surprisingly pull HDTV and have HDMI out. My monthly bill comes out to roughly $83 a month and the only thing that we wish we had is ABC Family. Now here's to hoping internet TV shakes up the market in the next 2 years.. otherwise I'll be going back to internet only before my bill jumps by $50 a month. ;-)

Makes sense for Comcast and HBO really. If someone is just getting Internet service because they can't buy Internet+HBO only, they will likely get the content through "questionable" means. Not saying it's the right thing to do, just that it's the reality of things. Don't believe me, how about the fact that 'Game of Thrones' finale breaks illegal download records. Etc. If you can extract cash out of those people, why wouldn't a business do it?

Disclaimer: I do not work for any of these two companies.

I'm soliciting for advice and experience. If this hijacking this thread, PLEASE DELETE.

Currently, we have an AT&T most basic DSL package and the mandatory AT&T landline for DSL to work and DirectTV for tv viewing.

AT&T current specials are these

now if we go with Comcast, we can finally drop the useless AT&T landline (since we use cellphone majority of times) and just sign up for any of their TV & Internet deals.

I'm 10hrs a day away from any of these. If, I am at home, I'm on the Internet more often than watching TV. I rarely watch any sports on TV, no reality shows, or premium channel shows. On the daily work-week basis, I'm on the Internet for 1hr the most...waiting for my slow basic DSL downloads. Needless to say, I I'm wasting time waiting for downloads.

So, I'm trying to balance on what is an ideal subscription for me.
Most economical, not too excessive on the bandwidth (it doesn't make sense to me so far to have/pay for 50Mbps when I'm mostly away).

Equipment
Should I shop my own equipment? What do you recommend for modem+wireless router for cable internet?

advance thanks
