The Surface Pro 2 dock unfortunately only has 1 mini-DisplayPort output, luckily it's version 1.2 which means it supports MST daisy-chaining. I'm looking for some 24" inch 1080p monitors that are DP 1.2 for this daisy-chaining feature.

The Dell U2414H specs explicitly say it is a DP 1.2 display, but they are a bit more than I'd like to spend ($280), since I'm buying 2 of them.

The Asus VE248Q comes up when I search for DisplayPort 1.2 monitors on Amazon, and is only $150. However, no where do the specs mention if it is DP 1.2

Suggestions?

If the monitor doesn't have a DisplayPort out listed, then it's not going to support daisy chaining.

If you look at the specs for the Dell U2414H, that's where you see it listed:

Connectivity
2 HDMI(MHL) connectors
1 Mini DisplayPort
1 DisplayPort (version 1.2a)
1 DisplayPort out (MST)
1 Audio Line out (connect your speakers)
4 USB 3.0 ports - Downstream (4 at the back, 1 with battery charging)
1 USB 3.0 port - Upstream

Just a heads up if you're considering the U2414H, there are major problems associated with daisy chaining these units. Check Dell forums before buying.

I actually bought a couple of these Dell's yesterday for my rMBP. They're gorgeous thus far. Since my mac has 2 t-bolt ports I didn't daisy chain them. However I started thinking about trying to attach both to my surface pro 2 this morning (and ironically just stumbled into this thread).

I'll try hooking them up to the tablet this weekend and see how they go.

Interested to hear how it works with the Surface Pro 2 and the Intel graphics drivers. So far I've only seen reports of the 15" rMBP with the 750m being able to daisy chain when running Win 8.1.

I can confirm that the daisy-chaining in fact does NOT work with the Surface Pro 2. I just spent over an hour messing with it and it was a no-go. Near as I can tell, the 1st monitor just never sees it even being plugged in. In fact an hdmi-usb dongle will work as a 2nd monitor, but it's a bit wonky and stutters quite a bit.

Keep in mine both of my monitors are rev A00, so a later revision it may be fixed.

Edit: I should also add daisy-chaining on my rMBP (2012, not the new one) didn't see to work either, but I'm assuming that's because I likely don't have displayport 1.2 functionality on it.
