Is this AMD's answer to the GeForce Experience from Nvidia? I'm switching from NVIDIA and my new Sapphire 290x TRI-X OC arrives today.I came across some unexpected funds when I got an Amazon gift card from work so I wound up upgrading my card a little sooner than expected. I haven't owned an AMD card since like the Radeon 9800 days so I am a little new to the current gen cards but for the price to performance ratio I had to give it a try.

So how good is the Gaming Evolved Center and Is there any other utilities that I should look into for my new card? Can't wait to get home later and test out my new card! :D

Basically it suggests settings for your games. You run the game once and it looks up it's database to suggest optimal settings. It monitors your frame rate to get more data to parse for the app. It also has some contests based on the amount of time that you play games where you can win bundles of games or gaming hardware. They have sponsors where they give you discounts on games via a code.

Hope that helps.

Cool, yeah that sounds similar to the GeForce Experience App except the winning games and stuff like that. I'll definitely check it out tonight.

I got to say that it is annoying as hell ;) I installed it on my Kabini based laptop and run D3 on it from time to time. And for whatever reason this the gaming evolved app always wants to let me play in highest setting and highest resolution.

In reality it needs to have little lower res and all settings on low. But the stupid program does not accept my settings. Not even after modifying my settings to match in game settings on the gaming evolved app. And after each app update it starts again...

Yeah, the gaming app is not very good with APUs for some reason, the settings are usually set too high. I get that on both my laptops including my crossfire one. It's a good laptop, but can't max out everything like the app suggests. I just ignore it's suggestions on APUs.

Is it any good for aside from the APU's though? I generally prefer to set settings myself, but this might make it more convenient for some.

Yeah, it's definitely not something made for power users. Much like GeForce experience...a useless app for 95% of the people that visit this site really. I only use Geforce Experience to access Shadowplay features. if it wasn't for that I wouldn't even have it installed.

Really though, I don't like the idea of having to have 2 programs running to manage my GPU stuff. Seems like both companies could have integrated this stuff into their existing control panels.

I can only imagine the response if they were to incorporate monitoring software into their standard control panels. I don't think a lot of people would appreciate it.

It's ok for regular cards. It's nothing a bit of tweaking won't give you. I tried it for fun and I agree on about 90% of the settings with my 280x crossfire setup. The other 10% I run higher than the app specs.

I like it more as a gaming hub, like steam but with other games and getting free stuff once in a while.

Dont forget the settings are crowd sourced, so if a bunch of people are playing at higher settings with lower FPS, it effects the recommendations.

I actually like the community functions, its cross platforms so everybody is tossed in the mix.

Even if you don't use it running it in the background will let it gather performance data and improve its recommendations. And you get points for having it running in the background which you can use to enter raffles.

Hopefully the addition of Japamd, the creator of RadeonPro, will spur them to expand the tweaking ability of the tool. I like the idea behind it, but the execution still seems to be lacking.

It doesn't seem to bad so far, I don't normally rely on apps to manage my settings for me. I do like earning the points just by using the app though to earn rewards and discounts etc. Enjoying my 290x very much so far!
