Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic

Played the crap out of the two games on Xbox. Really wish they didn't go MMO with the series.

It was indeed a great game. Better than most of the Star Wars movies too.

First one was indeed epic. Second one not so much. You could tell it was rushed, but there are fan mods out there that add some of the missing content back in.

I still have it installed to play occasionally a la Steam. Few games BioWare (or EA who now own the Bioware brand) have done since have lived up to that one.

Yeah, gonna have to play through them again now. Gonna have to look for those user mods...

If you play the MMO as eight single player stories it is a good addition. Really expands the universe they created.

Wish Disney looked at it instead of going with a sequel approach

That is pretty much what I did for two different characters. I only played for a month and then went back to WoW but I know I would have enjoyed the game a lot more if it was SP only and designed that way from the ground up.

I am looking forward to the sequels but I am also dreading how much of the expanded universe is going to get retcon. Personally, the KotOR universe never really grabbed me as interesting or something I wanted expanded. It was just there as a backdrop to the stories Bioware was weaving.

Played both KOTOR's more then once, great game and epic fun.
Setting up a short and long lightsaber with the best crystals for massive damage.

They really should make a 3rd version with more worlds and characters but keep the storyline in the same realm.

Ditto. The only game that ever made me actually feel bad about an in game choice. Involving the Wookie and the Twilek :(

Now I need to replay it!

Ah, making the wookie kill his lifelong friend, never felt more evil in a game. They did a good job of making you feel like what you did mattered. Mass effect takes about the same approach.

First one was epic, second was a jumbled mess unless you use the restoration mod but just about as good after.

MMO is a single player game that just happens to have other people in it. It's fun if you don't think of it past that.

God damn it... I just started my first play thru while traveling this week. Lol

Love this game. HK-47 is still a favorite of mine.

"Statement: Indeed, I am most eager to engage in some unadulterated violence. At your command of course, Master."

The worst part was Taris. Does anyone know where I can download the Xarwarz HD texture mod?

Didn't they switch the game over to the free 2 play system? or maybe it was a different game.

You're thinking of the MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic... Key word in the thread title is "Knights" which refers to the single player RPG originally released on the first Xbox made by the real Bioware.

KOTOR I and II on the PC were great. The consolized controls annoyed me a bit, but they were both great. I've still got copies. Maybe I'll play them again someday. I wish they'd make another one. But what studio? Maybe if we're really lucky Disney will license CD Projeckt to do another one. I think I got that right... I'm thinking of the devs of the Witcher series.

I think that the PC controls were changed to a scheme that is pretty standard for RPGs on the PC. Personally I had no problem with them. The mouse control was pretty damned smooth in my opinion, and you could hotkey your abilities to all the number keys. I am a little disappointed the games won't run in widescreen without mods, but the games were released 10 years ago.

And The Witcher dev is CD Projekt RED. They are a relatively small development team, though, so they probably can only work on 1 or 2 projects at a time. I do agree that they would probably be the best team out there to take the license and run with it, though. EA'd Bioware is very disappointing, but I'm hoping they can redeem themselves with Dragon Age: Inquisition.

I too found the controls annoying, but I adapted.

I'm not counting on Bioware and Dragon Age: Inquisition, as the videos I've seen released by Bioware/EA make it look like a hack and slash.
