setup new laptop, installed office 2013 through office 365 licensing. fired up outlook, setup the user, outlook hangs on the loading profile stage. i erased the profile added another, same thing. since restoring to factory settings on SSD doesn't take long i did that, reloaded everything, same issue. word also does not work. when you load word 2013 and double click blank document it stops responding.

help?

Back in the Office 2003 and 2007 days, Outlook and Word would do this when the normal.dot template got corrupted or infected with a virus. I don't know if the current Office uses that same template, but if it does, just delete it and allow Office to recreate it.

Try running outlook via Run: outlook.exe /safe

This will run Outlook without any Add-Ons -- one of which may be the problem.

running outlook in safe mode does work but that doesn't explain word issue.

and i have gone in and disabled he add ons in outlook that were extra

how many emails does the account have your adding?

how is it added?
pop3

exchange

solution
for word: i did start run winword /safe and disabled the adobe addon.

for outlook: i did a few things. i did outlook.exe /resetnavpane and then booted it in safemode by going outlook.exe /safe and disabled unnecessary addons and went into options -> advanced and disabled hardware graphics acceleration.

both work great now and super fast!
