It seems that Z77 boards are drying up quickly. I am considering moving my main desktop rig to a mini-itx HTPC / living room gaming system.

It currently consists of a i7-3770k, Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 and an AMD 7950 boost.

I wanted to move to ITX, with a corsair 250D (after reading the review on HardOCP).

Should I sell my current motherboard and processor and get a Haswell i5 and Z87 board? Other than an Asus board at Newegg, a number of the premium Z77 ITX boards are now gone.

Thanks,

Chris

I have had decent success with the z77 itx stinger from EVGA, which was on sale today at tigerdirect for 55$ iirc

I went ATX + Z77 to MITX + Z87. My brother went ATX + Z77 to MITX + Z77. I ended up spending about $200 ish more while my brother spent around $100 after everything. Honestly the differences between are setups are barely noticeable.

That's my thinking as well. I was looking at the boards and am just going to get a Z77 part. They are in short supply so i will either get that one at Newegg or grab one on ebay.

I don't need wireless 802.11AC, but can replace the mini pcie with an intell 802.11AC adapter for $30.
