...And let the deluge of DA2 hate comments commence.

For the record, I strongly feel DA2 was a decent game (with some of the best dialog and character-driven stories in any game I can remember) and got a bad wrap since it pales in comparison to DAO. I just finished my second playthrough recently, and my opinion was only reinforced: while there are some aspects of the game that are annoyances (repetitiveness, inventory and item system, simplified gameplay), it's still enjoyable and very worth $7. Had it been released as a separate game (or even a glorified expansion) in the DA universe, the critical and fan response would have been very positive IMO.

DA 2 is fucking terrible.

If you like running the same dungeons with mirrored content and helping uninteresting characters wipe their own ass then I guess it might be enjoyable, but the game is a far cry from the first.

Well the only part I really disliked in DA 2 was the reuse (er constant reuse as in many many times) of some very horrible very small 'dungeons'. Other than that one singular (but important) aspect I found it pretty decent. How to score it? No clue definitely not a 10 but definitely not a 0. Btw I found the combat in DAO (and likewise DA 2) rather poor compared to older works so it is not like DAO was a perfect game. I think I would give DA 2 a 6 and DA:O a 7.5; my comparison DKS was easily an 8.5 (came out when DA 2 came out) though DKS is not a party based game like DA 2. NWN2 ws mostly a 7.5 (some aspect better than DA:O some worse). Has there been any decent party based RPG in the last 4 years ?

I'd say it's probably worth 6.99

The first one was pretty good; the second i did not enjoy as much (I forget if river of time is the first or second). Actually most people prefer the second - i think i was one of the few who prefer the first. I very rarely see them on sale these days (esp with the add-on for the second). Pity the studio ws picked up by some company that only does web based games.

Drakensang: River of Time.

A solid 8 IMO.

If it was $7 and worked on Steam, it would be worth it.

But it's $7 and requires Origin, so it's not (to me).

Thanks for the heads up though, Thuleman

I'm glad I only spent $5 when Amazon had it going cheap, some of the worst voice acting I have ever heard (Voice actor of Fenris, sounded like he couldn't give a $#!t), dungeons, and outlying areas are all the same...Give or take a couple of doors being blocked off, midway boss is tougher than the final boss, I was glad I finished it, now I can remove it from my system.

first game was the best, actually had an interest in the characters, and storyline.

I actually thought it was a pretty good game but because of the recycled elements the replay value really suffered.

It's not as bad as some people say but it's not as good as some others say. The recycled interiors were the worst part but far from the only issue. The characters were cliched and predictable, shallow, poorly voice acted, and in my opinion most were unlikeable; the story was about the same. Combat went from tactical and interesting to press A for awesome with nearly endless waves spawning in(usually on top of your healer) to distract you from the fact that it's simple. The game was also much shorter than DA:O and just generally felt like it was rushed.

With all that said I enjoyed it but I doubt I'll ever play it again. The graphics were improved and the story and dialog had their high points but the main redeeming quality was getting to see another part of the DA universe from a non-warden perspective. I agree that if it had been made without the DA name attached and by a smaller studio that it would have been better received, however many of the same complaints would have been made.

Bought it, just beat DA:O last night, might as well keep on with the series?

Indeed. I also thought the writing was the worst Bioware has ever cranked out, and they aren't really at the forefront of videogame writing in the first place.

As for the waves of spawns, just leave the area they spawn in and you can pull enemies one by one. Spawn spots are static and there is almost always a safe room nearby.

I LOVED KOTOR but I just couldn't get into DA. The interface felt overly complicated and the controls a bit clunky. Wish I could like this game :(
