Technically this is a "disrespectful little bastard of the day" news item but I didn't want to use that as a headline. I wonder what kind of "presents" they have waiting for this kid in jail? ;)

Alexander Torres, 18, of Moraine Street in Brockton was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery and malicious damage to a motor vehicle, according to Brockton Police Lt. Bruce Zeidman. Zeidman said Torres did not get an iPhone he wanted for Christmas.

I sure hope he wasn't spanked as a kid. That would have been ABUSE.

I'm sure the correctional system will give him a far more enriching and gentle experience.

We really need Natural Selection to start running it's course.

Chances are....somebody somewhere stopped this moron from doing something that would have taken him out of the gene pool. People need to stop doing that.

Can't wait for the iPhone 6 and a repeat of a similar news story next year.

Problem is, we as a society do not allow natural selection to take place anymore. We actively defy Darwin's law. We go so far as to artificially inseminate animals that won't fornicate to save their own species...

Not to mention we in some occasions can not even correctly parent these punks without being incarcerated. I'm not saying to beat children as some used to do many years ago, but even spanking a misbehaved child can sometimes result in dire consequences for the parents.

Perhaps you are right. The US is full of hypocrite pussies. Everybody is more concerned about feeling good or appearing to do the sensitive thing about something, instead of taking care of the problem.

Come on folks! MAN THE FUCK UP!

Kids are a product of their parents. ;)

This, though rarely in tandem.

I had a lot of agression issues as a child, My parents fought hard to teach me how to handle it and punished me when I didnt. Nothing that left any permanet scars, but things that the "crazy nice" parenting world today would scream "ABUSE!!!" at.

On the other hand, most parents today dont bother parenting. They go to work, the kids come home to an empty house, they do whatever they want, the parents come home, at best they have dinner together (rare these days) and the parents go off to do whatever they want, leaving the kids to their own devices. Unsupervised kids do crazy things like this, especially when there are no true "parent" rolemoddels in their life.

The sad part, especially with the later, is that a lot of this has become mandatory with the way the world has become - more demanding jobs, longer hours, less pay, etc. If you dont have a really good job and lots of friends/family who are free to keep an eye on your kids, it's hard to handle it anymore.

In the end, I still blame the parents, but they're hardly the ONLY source of trouble or the end-of-the-line for where the trouble comes from.

I highly doubt it's as simple as that. Parents to have a huge influence on a kid when the kid is growing up, but the parent aren't the only influence. By the age of 18, a person is an individual of their own with their own personality, they have their own friends, they've been exposed to society, the list of possible influences however small is endless.

A child eventually has to grow up and be an individual of their own. Unfortunately this 18 year old scumbag chose to be that way, but his own behavior is 100% his own fault at this age.

Massachusetts is kind of a dump.

No West-coaster. MA as a whole isn't a dump, but a section of Brockton MA could be considered a human cesspool. There's two halves to Brockton, MA. A "nice" section with some really nice homes and great neighborhoods.

Then there's everywhere else in Brockton, MA. :D

Technically that's no different from any US city really, but what separates Brockton is the attitude! I've known quite a few people who were born and raised in Brockton and almost all of 'em have a very specific attitude. It's kinda hard to describe in words but think your stereotypical "mafioso" wise guy attitude combined with a generous helping of arrogance and with a touch of self-entitlement on top.

To be fair not everyone from Brockton MA is like that. That'd be like saying everyone from the Seattle, WA area is an emo grunge douchebag treehugger that lives in their mom's basement by night and works for Microsoft by day, or saying that Miami FL is comprised entirely of drug runners and organized crime members. ;) With Brockton though you can instantly tell if a person is from the "everywhere else in Brockton" demographic just by listening to them talk. Technically they aren't bad people, but having had to work with a few of 'em I can tell you from experience that the "Brockton attitude" starts to grate on your nerves after a while.

Of course no talk about Brockton MA would be complete without mentioning Lawrence, MA. Lawrence MA is generally considered to be the armpit of MA. I'll leave it up to all of you to figure out what orifice Brockton is associated with. :D

Yeah, definitely time to thin the herd, so to speak.

All that over a idevice. If I received one, I'd be grateful and sell it so I could buy a real mobile device (S4). Yeah...parenting seems to suck nowadays.

Basements in Seattle aren't as common as basements on the East coast. We live in our mom's attics.

Didn't get what you wanted for Xmas? Welcome to real life, kid.
Disappointment comes in life.
Now that I'm an adult, I don't "need" things, but on my lists it ends up coming down to work pants, undies, socks and beer. Money/ gift cards are also acceptable. I know my parents don't care for much of my musical preferences (metal), and some stuff I want it's just easier if I go get it myself.

I toss stuff on a list that is a long shot sometimes, but I don't pin my hopes on it. I have my hobbies, but sometimes a good tool is nice too.

If my kids flipped out even remotely close to that, there would be hell to pay later on. Right now, they're young enough I'm glad when they open gifts without my help.

I agree. Can't anyone else see that Pandas do not want to carry on? They have given up!

Useless animals.
