Modern hard drives can handle a simple slapping of the box easily.

They put so much effort into designing the thing, I wonder if they remembered to test it for shipping durability.

This is why they should have used time-tested off-the-shelf parts instead of designing yet another slot-load CD-rom from scratch.

My buddy used this trick and it worked for him. He wasn't going to bother but its been 5 days and MS still can't give him a tracking number for his replacement Xbox1 they said was already sent so he tried it. Worked like a charm.
