Madden 08 using updated modifications on PC - Anyone else do this?

I have had a 360 for years but recently built an HTPC to replace it among other things. I only really play sports games and was disappointed to learn that EA Sports stopped making Madden on PC.

However, I read about the use of Madden 08 and modifications for updated rosters and everything else from footballfanatics.com and other places.

Has anyone else done this? Did you have any issues? Is it difficult to manage or add the modifications?

I bought the Madden 08 download off Amazon last night but havent proceeded with using it. I am curious to know if any others have experience with this and how much effort it takes to get it all updated.

I believe that I did this with my Madden 06, but that's been some time ago. I believe it was nothing to it. I think I only updated the rosters. I might have to look into that and might pick up '08.

I play Madden 2008 with the mods from footballidiot. They work pretty well and installing the mods is fairly easy, it mostly involves just extracting to a folder or using a mod installing tool.

I don't have any issues with the mods, but when I try to use my xbox 360 controller, everything works, but when I try any kicking I'm not able to get my kicks off most of the time.

Plays perfect for me. Weird about the kicking. I actually find the gameplay to be superior to the modern versions in many ways. The games against the AI are competitive and fun. Oh and use SweetFx injector for added visual goodness.

I've been playing madden 08 modded by footballfreaks for years, it looks and plays better than any madden released on ps3/360...
