The plot is insane even for the video game world, but I kinda like it. The baddies are still dumb as ever, the dog is invincible, but the graphics aren't bad when you crank up the AA.

Still think the single player is better than BF4.

I'm surprised on how much I like it as well. The only COD games I finished that kept my interest so far is MW1, MW2, BO, and so far this one... I never bothered to play past the first missions on MW3 or BO2. I got mine on the WII U... when I picked it up at Gamestop at midnight last night, they said I was the first one to get it on the Wii U at the store. LOL.

LONG LIVE NINTENDO!

I originally preordered it for PC on Green Man Gaming, but they ran out of keys so I got a refund.

Picked this one up and it's definitely fun and seems polished. I haven't been able to play it much, but I've done some of the campaign, extinction and a little of the squads mode. Extinction reminds me of Resistance with a dash of Gears of War. Very enjoyable so far.

Oh yeah! I like the extinction too. I'm not really a zombie person.. just not into it. I even forced myself to watch Walking Dead season one and two... I hated it. I rather watch water evaporate from a cup.

I can't comment on the SP, but MP feels nice. I have maybe 10 hours into it now, and its a ton of fun.

Extinction sounded interesting to me too, but I heard it was just a single level, and not many options.

I do have Black Ops 2 for my Wii U, though. I'll probably stick to that for the time being.

So the dog is basically like Ellie from Last of Us, then?

What the hell. I am shocked that this game is actually good. I guess I'm a sucker for space and disaster scenarios. The above-Earth sequence at the beginning is absolutely brilliant.

The graphics are also actually really good, despite what screenshots have been suggesting. Everything has a solid feel to it.

I'm surprised that I wasn't disappointed in ghosts. Great story, and online is very smooth mechanics.

I'm still downloading the damn thing last time I try and download something this big on my 156k connection.

you sir are dead inside. dead. inside.

i haven't kept my finger on the pulse of COD:Ghosts. is this developed by Treyarch or the 'new' Infinity Ward? i assume it's by the B-squad (Infinity Ward) since BO2 was by Treyarch. if so then i have no interest in it. MW3 was the worst COD game i've ever played.

The story is retarded. Federation is bad. No explanation why / how / etc.
Comparing to BF4 guns sound like shit, vehicles are weightless with 0 inertia. Space "levels" are retarded - 0 inertia, sounds.

Also there are video sequences reused from previous games:

i want to like the single player, but the plot is weak, and the baddies are sooooooo dumb.

still I just finish the SP's before I go to MP.

I have yet to finish the campaign in the last 4 call of duty games. Its getting ridiculous. I shouldn't have to force myself to finish a game lol.

the last SP campaign i finished was MW2 which i really liked. shit i played through it twice. *hangs head in shame.
the quality of COD SP campaign goes like this for me: COD4 > COD2 > MW2 > WaW > the rest

i'm odd or I haven't come to terms with reality (probably the latter) but I am holding out for a good story. I like the idea of being in control of my own movie which is what single player is for me, me directing my own movie.

I've always liked IW's Campaigns. I used to buy em just for the SP.

That's the way it should be. There are only so many ways of killing other in MP... lol. A game's value should be it's singleplayer unless it's strictly a MP game.

Couldn't force me to finish them. Every single one of the after the first game has lacked any sense of danger or pacing. Its as if you're the only one that is running around with a real gun and everyone else is shooting airsoft. If you're going to make the whole game scripted I think they could be a bit more clever about it instead it ends up being wasted opportunity. Take how lame the space mission is in this game is, should have just showed me a cutscene instead as they are not even attempting to create the illusion of having control anymore. Still zero improvements to Ai or adding any sort of depth goes as far as a couple of few mini games. It's a depressing missuse of talented developers.

I agree to some extent. I liked how Brothers in Arms handled their SP campaigns. Way better than the WW2 COD games. Sniper Elite 2 touched on it a tad, but not to the extent of BiA.

Unfortunately most franchises have moved towards the linear corridor style of gameplay.

Battlefield's engine has the most potential for doing something similar, but DICE/EA are too stuck in copying everything Activision does with the COD franchise. I think a BF singleplayer game where they give you a few cutscenes, drop you on the map, and say "here's your objective(s), go do it". The rest should be up to you. Do you snipe everyone from afar? Wait for night and go silent? Steal a truck and rambo it? The objectives can steer the storyline, the journey should be up to the player. You could also incorporate the MP maps, so it'll allow players to familiarize themselves.

Just watched my friend finish the campaign on the PC version. Some mild spoilers (not really) so you've been warned.

My impressions? Contrived nonsense compounded by lazy writing and boring characters. I couldn't give two shits less about any human character in the game.

Without question the "Maya" Dog stole the show in terms of personality. I bet they spent more time developing him as a character than the 10 minutes it probably took to develop all the other human characters combined.

This is single player on the laziest of days truly. The weirdest part was how some parts of the game :small spoiler: (the jungle , winter levels) were actually pretty decent looking. But to justify the game using almost 4GB's of ram and all 3GB's of VRAM PLUS 40GB's of HDD space is just absolutely bullshit. Crysis 3 is not even close to that demanding and yet looks years beyond what this game can do.

Its more obvious to me then ever that IW developed this "next gen" engine for consoles only and ported it to the PC thinking low res textures would suffice. You simply can't look at the textures and tell me they are "high resolution". I can boot up Fallout : New Vegas and see higher resolution textures (not to mention a FAR better game by a country mile).

This entire game just feels sloppy. We ran into weird SP bugs sometimes when you would reload you would suddenly reload again a second after you did so automatically and when you are under fire and being suppressed this is just awful timing for such a thing to happen.

This is the laziest single player campaign I've seen in years. I had more fun playing BLOPS's campaign by far , at least it had interesting elements and ATTEMPTED to tell a story that wasn't absurd and full of utterly inconceivable bullshit at every turn. The worst offense is the antagonist , he's just all around completely boring to even listen to. He's not threatening in the least compared to the protagonists who seem practically invincible at times. Yet everything he does is entirely predictable. Hands down the worst COD campaign I've ever played. A couple of fun moments populated by large blocks of worthless ones.

If I had to rate this game on campaign alone I would give it a 3/10. I can't believe they spent over $100 Million on this game and came up with such a bad SP game. Why doesn't Activision get the message? Hardly anyone gives a fuck about SP in a COD game. That's like looking for intellectual stimulation at NASCAR event. It should just be MP , stop wasting fucking 10's of millions of dollars on one fucking dumb campaign after another and instead don't release a PC version full of bugs day 1. There ya go Activision , spend all your SP development money on debugging and I can pretty much guarantee you that you will increase your sales.

What a waste of time this version COD is.

CoD games I own:

CoD1+Expansion
CoD2
CoD3 (Wii)
CoD4 Modern Warfare
CoD5 World at War
and now... CoD Ghosts

Times I have finished a SP campaign: 0
CoD has never been about single player for me.

Cod has a single player campaign? Seriously who cares about SP in COD or BF type games?

well next time you find a lazy sunday afternoon, finish COD4. it's a solid sp campaign.

Let's see the people who buy it apparently , gaming journalists and the fact that the majority of people who play the SP in COD games STILL outnumber those who buy it for MP only usage. Think about it , at most around a million or so people across several platforms likely play the latest release around the world online during the first 6 months give it take. But the amount of copies sold goes beyond 10 million plus per release , so by that ratio people who do not play online outnumber those that do by 10 to 1.

If they are going to force the inclusion of it then it deserves to be judged and so does the BF series for that matter.

It is Infinity Ward with the help of Treyarch using a lot of the developing from BO2.

A non-hostile CoD thread on [H]? WHaaat?

I am liking the game as well, only played multiplayer so far. My first CoD was MW2 and I loved MP in that. Black Ops seemed off with inconsistent damage and hit detection. I skipped everything else, only played a free weekend for Black Ops 2 which seemed to have even worse hit detection and damage inconsistency (It seems like you unload on a guy and he turns around and one-shots you).

I decided to try Ghosts and so far it "feels" almost as good as MW2. I rarely get killed in a way that is BS, just bad luck. It is kind of dumb that I have to turn off SLI to make the game run better, but other than that I am lucky that it runs fine for me. I think the graphics are decent enough for what you would expect, and the maps seem fairly detailed and by being larger aim is a factor instead of shotgun and SMG spraying.

I don't see why people compare it to BF. Other than being a military based fps they are completely different games. I like CoD for its "fast" pace. No one plays Quake Live so to me this is kind of in that realm.

Rented from Redbox for PS3. Forgot how much I hate their default trigger scheme vs the 360 controller.... I still keep throwing grenades when I want to be shooting people.

I saw the PS3 vs PS4 graphics comparison video and I was a bit frightened... but playing it you don't notice too much except when you are looking at huge areas, then the no-AA jaggies really start to become noticeable.

Amazingly the game doesn't require an online pass.... shocked! When I finish the SP today or tomorrow I might give MP a try, but historically speaking I suck at online play with these type of games.

I watched IGN's video review which had a graphics comparison between Ghosts on the PS3 vs PS4 and I was disappointed at the PS4 version. It doesn't look much better at all and it's equally unaliased.

Must be some awful video comparisons if you can't notice the massive difference between 880x720 and 1920x1080. It looks awful on ps3 you can barely make out details on the guns your holding let alone any a few feet in front of you tuns into grey blurs that blend in.

Doesn't the PS4 run it at 60 fps versus 30 on the PS3 though?

I went to my brothers house to finish the download cause he has like 2 meg connection....

I played Multiplayer I thought it was pretty decent animations are not as fluid as Battlefield but it's workable.... I got like 5 kills and 13 deaths on my first run with my female char =) You die pretty fast in this game I noticed.

you're not alone - i cannot stand that stuff.

maybe it's just me, but all the footage i've seen of multiplayer looks like hardly anything has changed (gfx included) for the last five years. i felt like i could have convinced myself it was MW, MW2, MW3, whatever.
