If this story is to be believed, Edward Snowden has taken a tech support job for a major Russian website. Better hope they don't have any secrets. :D

On the run from the US government at a secret location somewhere in Russia, Edward Snowden has decided to do something productive with his time. His lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, has informed a Russian news agency that Snowden has secured employment with a "major" Russian website and will start work on Friday.

Is he creating malware to put on thumb drives so the Russians can hand them out to foreign dignitaries at G20 summits?

Still pretty much convinced that Snowden is still a CIA operative of some kind and there is a much bigger game being played behind the scenes than anyone is fully aware of...

It's been pretty well documented that the NSA has been operating as a borderline rouge agency for quite some time and there are quite a few people in other parts of the U.S. government who are scared (and/or jealous) of the power the NSA has amassed.

The way the Snowden leaks keep trickling out, and especially the media coverage of it all, reeks of psyops and you really have to wonder what the end game to all of this is.

What could they possibly gain from this information coming out? Because this is shining a very very negative spotlight on the NSA. I can't imagine any sort of positive outcome for this that would be worth it.
It's not like they are faking a terrorist attack to pass a previously written bill to get a massive power extension or anything.......

I think the negative light on the NSA is kinda the point...

As for the outcome? I doubt it would be "positive" for the country in general, the world at large, and certainly not everyday people... but I'm sure someone, or some agency, has something to gain from it.

The talk of overhauling the rules and the spy agencies is just now beginning... Whether this means stripping the NSA of some power, or simply giving more to everyone else to level the playing field... who knows.

Bottom line is that once government has power they never give it back. They only come up with excuses to demand more

I really doubt this is all about psyops. Russia isn't that stupid however the derps who run the NSA are. All that information at their fingertips and two muslims that Russia told our federal agencies should be looked at still managed to bomb a major event.

Was that an intel issue or a political correctness issue? I understood its the later.

pretty sure it involves cowering in a shit smelling bombed out basement nervously counting ones last .22 rimfires

^ This is the kind of thinking that will see the constitution be replaced with a fascist state run by the military industrial complex. And no I'm not being hyperbolic.

You think this is constitutional?

What is it that makes you think Snowden is playing the super spy game?

Was it the three months he was working for Booz Allen prior to running to Hong Kong with a backpack full of thumbdrives?

Or perhaps his illustrious career doing warranty repair support for Dell in Japan? I can see spook prints all over that one.

Or perhaps it was his courageous service for the NSA at the University of Maryland where as a Security Guard he single handedly made sure the doors were locked at night.

Maybe it all started when he was in the Army. Those four months where he never completed any training, and somehow broke both legs. Hell, I had to wait eight months in delayed entry before I started basic. If he even showed up to basic he sure didn't complete it and that means he damn sure didn't break both legs in jump school.

But yea, I see master spy all over this one too.

That isn't the NSA's responsibility. It was the FBIs or didn't that tickle your light bulb?

Well, if he's fooled you, he must be a super spy. :p

Let me get this straight.

  • NSA finds out about imminent threat to america.
  • Not their problem.

Why do they exist again?

Oh right to waste our money.

Oh right to waste our money.

First, the FBI is responsible for Anti-Terror activity directed against the US, foreign and domestic.
The NSA is responsible for Foreign Signals Intelligence Activities.

Second, the Russians warned the State Department, that bag of pinkos are so far left they make Obama look like Rush Limbaugh's best buddy.

Third, unless these Tzarnaeves, or however you spell their names, were communicating their intentions or maintain communications with bad types overseas, the NSA isn't going to see them. Because the NSA does Foreign Signal's Intelligence.

But if the NSA WAS involved in physically looking for terrorists who want to kill Americans at major events, that would be a waste of money cause that is what WE PAY THE FBI to do.

Now, is it straight for you?

Thanks for making my point for me.

Army Gen. Keith Alexander, director of the National Security Agency, defended his agency, saying what his staff does "is bring back more U.S. soldiers, airmen and Marines" alive from dangerous postings.

"We see the threats coming at this nation," Alexander said.

"We see what neither the CIA nor FBI could see" before 9/11, Alexander said. "We help them connect the dots."

Feel free to explain to me why we're paying billions of dollars to build giant data centers in the Utah desert so that the NSA can spy on us. Meanwhile the reasoning they use to build said infrastructure is not only unconstitutional but is an egregious waste of money. I thought Republicans were all about fiscal responsibility.

Meanwhile Snowden is the traitor for pointing out that these fascists in government are the ones trampling all over the constitution by spying on YOU!

I wouldn't hire Snowden to shine my shoes and yes, I do wear wing tips. Thank you.

Still trying figure why we were spying on the Pope. Not like Catholics were flying those planes.

I would not hire him for any position. Well perhaps Doggy Style while cleaning prison shower floors ...

It's too bad this guy and news outlets all decided to take a socially irresponsible, selfish path to appease their misguided morality or, in the case of the media types, a desire for sensationalist attention that they knew the small minded types among the general public would flip out about in the usual redneck, "everything is a conspiracy" way. :( Shame on Russia for keeping such an awful person there and helping him get a job.

I swear if Chris Mathews could choke any more black dick down he would be in a BBC video.

Good novel

No, we were and don't you forget that.

Snowden could be working for the mob, he was a dead man before I knew about him & he's one now that'll never come back to the US.

It's amazing how people on this forum love BIG GOVERNMENT. You'd think they went through the KGB training course, or may be the Gestapo. A person blows the whistle on the NSA spying on US citizens, and instead of the NSA being under scrutiny, they attack the whistle-blower!!! May be there is a secret Ministry of Truth (1984 style).
