With mavericks, the second screen function is pretty great. My brother installed the GM of Mavericks on his 2013 13" Air, and put a movie on the tv via airplay while he went and did some work on his MBA. It seemed to work pretty flawlessly.

Can't wait to upgrade to Mavericks!

Maverick is pretty damn buggy. And network performance is atrocious with constant lockups and hangs while browsing and watching video on my network. They really shouldn't release it yet.

The presentations are so robotic and boring.

Script for giving an Apple presentation:
1) Walk back and forth
2) Read teleprompter

I really miss Steve Jobs' presentations. He added a personal touch and you felt as if he really was behind what he was selling. I'm waiting until they get to the iPad 5/iPad Mini 2 presentation.

It's worth pointing out that Mavericks takes a fairly big leap on the OpenGL front. They're moving on up to 4.1, if I recall correctly, which is a pretty significant move from where they were on Mountain Lion.

Talk about setting the bar. Your turn Microsoft.
Please don't. If you bring it up, he will come.

well, 13" retina now starts at $1299!
15" have option for discrete graphics too.

Considering these pricing options, I guess that's almost the final nail in the coffin for the old Classic MBPs.

Yep, available with lower specs with the retina screen compared to before. A good business decision.

The 15" has always had a discrete but a 13" MBP with a discrete card would be an instant buy for me. I'm surprised why Apple hasn't done that to power 2560x1600.

new Mac Pro starts at $2999

3.7 Quad Xeon
12 GB RAM
2 x 2GB Firepro D300
256GB SSD

a little small on the storage side I'd say.

...the Mac Pro looks SO out of place in that production environment.

If you can afford a Mac Pro you're probably someone using a large storage NAS as well.

Aaaaaaaaaaand the new Mac Pro is still dumb.

Yes, like one full of SSDs and you'd want 10Gbps ethernet. The kind of card that goes in a PCI Express slot. Inside a workstation or server.

Good lord, can we get to the new iPad already? No one uses this crap.

Emphasis for the Mac Pro seems to be for the recording studio: small and very quiet (12 db at idle).

A .4-pound reduction warrants an "air" designation and that it will be a "dramatically different experience"?

Wow, I am starting to really hate Apple again.

I'm not watching it live (Tuaw), but did someone mention that the 15" MBP non retina got the 750M as well?

LOL iPad2 $399 for 16GB still.

There were no images or information about non-retina MBPs that I saw.

So no reason to buy ipad air if the mini has EVERYTHING in a smaller package? Unless you want bigger screen.

iPad Mini is $399, and the original Mini only gets a $30 price cut.

You can get two Nexus 7s.

wow they've turned iPad into a product line, too

apple is really changing how they do things this year

dammit.... was hoping the new mini would be at the same price point as last gen ><

You're starting to hate Apple because they changed a product's name?

We were informed by self-proclaimed experts here that the Mac Pro would be excessively loud. Unsurprisingly, this seems not to be the case.

The iPad that really stand out as senseless now is the iPad 2.

Mini $299
Mini Retina with A7: $399
iPad 2: $399 WTF is this for? People you dupe into buying old obsolete junk.
iPad Air: $499 Retina with A7.

Us older folks do want the larger screen, thank you very much. Now get off my lawn.

LOL iPad2 $399 for 16GB still.

It's the only non-Retina iPad left. Apparently there's still enough demand to keep selling it. Google for "Why is the iPad 2" and "still available" pops up.
