I tried turning all the eye candy off, running on low for every setting possible no AA etc, changed resolution to the second lowest it will go (Lowest completely crashes).

I get smooth gameplay for about 3 seconds then unplayable chop, sound skipping etc for 3 seconds, constantly switching between the two. Game is completely unplayable. I tried the latest drivers and the latest beta driver with absolutely zero noticeable difference.

Is an overclocked Q9450 absolutely not fast enough to play BF4 on the lowest settings? 5870 just not able to keep up on low? I'm worried that when the game is released It will not be playable on my system so I am thinking of canceling my order.

Have you tried closing your web browser after you have gotten into a game? I have read this has helped many in both camps with low FPS issues etc...I wouldn't read too much into it yet..I think this "beta" is really more of an Alpha Phase 2 based on the sheer number of issues out there..I think the game with get fixed up a lot in the next 3 weeks with all the feedback pouring in..

It's running awful on a lot of peoples PCs, including mine.

No one can tell how the final game is going to work, but I think it will be fixed later.... or sooner

Giving that a shot now.

Be sure to have the newest beta drivers that were made for the BF4 Beta, that smoothed out quite a bit of lag issues people were having.

I'm useing 13.4 as i have Vista and beta driver doesn't surport it..

I grabbed the newest beta drivers from AMD but where do I get BF4 5870 drivers?

closing browser did nothing I bumped graphics resolution back to 1920x1080 makes no difference. I went and edited the properties file and turned off a ton of shadows etc. Now it simply moves smoother between frame drops. Every 2-3 seconds

I have the same GPU and it's unplayable for me also with latest driver from AMD. Not sure if the final game will be the same but for now I'm back to playing BF3.

5870... Personally, I would grab a 7870 and call it a day. It's going to be nearly twice as fast and use less power, and you can probably find a second hand one on eBay soon with the new stuff coming out soon. If money is a bit tight, try your hand at OC'ing! I think the issue deco agley has to do with beta software combined with a lack of raw power, plain and simple. I don't think anyone is going to 'tweak' their way out of this situation.

I hope you meant "7950" instead of a 7870, since a 7870 is NOT twice as fast..The 7950s are dirt cheap now, and the 7970s can be had for ~$260 or so after MIR if you look around..There are some AWESOME deals out there as the e-tailers are clearing stock..

I have a 5870 as well, its terribly unplayable, Im downloading the 13.10 beta2 and see how that works out.

5 fps? do all of your other games run properly?

Yes BF3 set to medium has WAY better graphics than BF4 on the lowest possible setting for everything with shadows nearly turned off. etc. There's no difference really going from medium to low, I het the same FPS drop every couple seconds. I don't want to buy a new video card right now just to play a beta, with AMD's new cards coming out very soon that seems like a really bad idea.

I'm currently running a 5770 with no issues at all. granted I have a 2600K at 4GHz and 16GB of ram to help smooth things out, but I definitely felt the lag before they updated battlelog. I have settings on medium now with no real glitching/lag.

I did notice that if I had f@h running in the background, the game would be completely unplayable. So make sure you aren't running that in the background, or something else that could be taking any resources from your processor. Hope this helps you, good luck!

(Furthermore, I too am looking to upgrade my graphics because I got this 5770 new when they came out. I am definitely due for it, and the card has served its purpose. I just want to see how good these new AMD cards are before deciding on what I should purchase.)

Its your CPU anyways. That's why you get no gains when u lower settings. Still should bcapable of more than 5fps.

Your computer is outdated. Are you running Windows 8? It is a must.

Yea I'm not talking about lag, I'm talking about completely unplayable with graphics turned down to basically nothing. Exactly every 2 seconds it drops to 5 fps then back up to 45-60...

Gave up on this game. Might have to get a refund if they don't fix it in the real version.

No I'm not on win8 I do not like win8

My money is on CPU or RAM. I'm running an i5-750 and I was originally getting 20fps with my R7950. Then I realized that my CPU utilization was 100% on all 4 cores and my GPU was only at 30%. I overclocked to 4.2GHz and it's still hitting 100% CPU, but now I'm hitting 50fps @ 75% GPU.
