So the game that caused much controversy when the devs said they would no longer update it has finally been updated. Anyone still playing? I might hop on tonight and play some myself...

I tried it a little last night. Didn't do much, but initially impressions are great. The "walk up one block" thing rules.

I haven't played in ages, but I might give it another go. It was pretty addicting from what I recall.

I don't have much time to play this week, training going on at work that is leaving me pretty exhausted. However this weekend I may set up a server for [H] types, if people want, that we could mess with.

Been playing this more than BF4. Loving the changes. Walking across terrain is way less annoying now and ropes are awesome for early game when you don't have the grappling hook. They're also that fastest way to climb vertically.

I had a huge ice biome spawn in my map, helps spice things up a bit compared to the regular "rock, rock, and more rock" the game was before. Seems like items related to the biome spawn in chests as well, or maybe it's just random. I found a snowball gun and ice skates while exploring them.

Also had a few hollow trees spawn that went down really deep. Saves the trouble of having to dig through the top layer to get to the lower areas.

The map is obviously awesome, but for some reason my minimap keeps glitching after a few hours of play (it starts getting dimmer and dimmer and then eventually turns completely black)

I don't have a server to play on currently.

This the game that updated once, because it's free, but wouldn't update more because it cost $10,000?

Fiance and I were addicted to this a few months ago. Definitely might fire it up again just to try the new changes

I've yet to enter hardmode, so I decided to create a new world and bring my existing character over, along with tons of stuff to build a new house. Right now that's what I'm doing in the new world, building a new house, yet to explore and see what's new.

Can't believe I spend almost an hour creating a new world over and over again, trying to get the biome and background to my liking :p

the amount of new content put into this was just unbelievable, I almost feel guilty accepting a free update instead of an expansion. it's literally doubled from 1.1, so doubled twice since release. this is the kind of game you look at and find nothing but tlc, that exists just "because I can".

I'd suggest starting with a new world/char, lots of great early game mechanics were added that will get missed if you're already in wings with jets/grapple. favorites being the ropes and climbing claws, now instead of being totally helpless and immobile you got some fun options to get around before you gear up early game.

Soon as I put my kid to bed I'll hop on. If you're u guys want to play together leave your steam I'd.

Oh I just jumped in for about an hour to check it out.
Yes it is awesome! But yeah, I probably wont really play till the weekend. Theres a few fun servers I go to, those usually have 50+ people on at all times, a blast to fight in the arena with so many people at once

No, that was something on the Xbox. Steam doesn't charge for updates, which is how Terraria gets distributed. Xbox Live does charge for updates (since MS validates them).

Terraria had probably 20 minor updates then a really major one, then a couple of minor ones, then it stopped. The dev burned out or something. He just kinda announced "I'm done". That was a yearish ago. Then Cenx (his wife I think) talked him in to working on another update. He worked for a few months, and how here is the massive update.

He has stated he plans on taking another break, then start up with smaller updates.

Ya looks like it was. Not surprising given that Phil Fish seems to be a complete egomaniac who throws a fit over anything he perceives as a slight.

It was immediately updated after MS lowered the fees, exactly like he said it would be. Fez has been fixed for months.
