John Romero now teaching at UC Santa Cruz

Yeah that's cool and all, but him teaching there wouldn't be enough incentive for me to attend UCSC. No offense to all the scholars that go there. :p
 
They start up a game development degree program,and pick a guy who was responsible for one of the worst disasters in video game history to teach it? :confused:
 
Considering he was a part of what made IDsoftware great (as evident by their later games excluding quake 3), I suppose we should give him a pass on Daikatana.
 
he could be a great teacher, who knows... he taught me some important life lessons that's for sure ^_^

John Romero was only creditted as a level designer. He's not exactly a big programmer or anything.

And with ID, I think it's just a case of the industry passing them by.
 
Actually, Romero is a good programmer. Not exceptional by any means, but better than average. His wife did a heck of a job on Wizardry 8, too. It's not quite as good as the DW Bradley 2/3 of the trilogy, but combat and character leveling were much improved.
