WikiLeaks’ Editor-in-Chief Julian Assange has failed in his attempt to win a Senate seat in Australia. Assange found it difficult to campaign for the Senate while still stuck in Ecuador’s London Embassy to escape a European arrest warrant. I guess being famous, or infamous in this case, doesn’t translate well at the polls. :D

Assange had hoped that election to Australia's Senate would make it easier for him to finish his extended couch surfing stint in Ecuador's embassy and come home

LOL, this guy is still in the news? Thought nobody really cared what happened to him. Despite the moronic attempts at hype, he is about as heroic and Heraldo Rivera, and even less credible. It's not really much of a surprise he lost a bid for public office in Australia.

I don't understand how he didn't do better with his compelling campaign video...

Actually I wish more people did compaign videos like this. I hate the current fuck the other guy he rapes and kills kittens stuff that we have now here in the US for every single election. 4/5th of the ads you see are telling you why you should hate the other person and that is it. Go ahead and be crazy, do stuff like this and get your name and some of your message out there via funny / entertaining means.

You do know he was never actually charged with a crime, right? The accusations themselves are based on, IIRC, a single testimony from the supposed victim. There's a whole lot more to this then people understand, and it clearly shows from the comments that people comment out of their ass most of the time on news stories like this.

Did anyone really think that a politician who runs on a platform of divulging classified military documents would win any kind of election? Taxpayers pay big bucks for defense, they don't want it wrecked.

It's interesting that you say that because the only reason he was not charged IIRC is because to be charged he has to physically be handed the papers. According to the Swedish law.

Yes, he is hiding in an unfriendly to the West, 3rd world country's consulate specifically to avoid being charged with a crime. Oh, and he is using the oldie but goody, " The US/UK/SW/Western World is out to get me", excuse not to face the charges.

I doubt the US will ever pick the guy up. He is not a threat to anyone anymore. He did a great job showing his true colors to the world with his sellout of Manning, and his initial dribbling out of only the things that appeared damning, then doing the full release without redacting enough information to protect lives. That's b4 his sexual escapades landed him in legal troubles. Discrediting him was as effortless as it was unnecessary. Assange did all the work for them.

Understood.

And I understand the nasty dominio chain waiting for him if he were to actually turn himself in.

Still.
