Some of your favorite tower defense games for PC

What are a few recent and good tower defense games? I don't like the ones where you control a character which has to build the stuff.

Prefer ones you play on PC, as opposed to flash ones. Thanks!
 
Defender's Quest is my favourite, good story and very addictive gameplay.

Worth mentioning:
Defense Grid with Glados DLC
Tower Wars
Unstoppable Gorg
 
The only ones I've played are the Bloons Tower Defense series, which have been flash games or available on Andoid and iOS. Got a pretty good run going on BTD5 on my rooted HP Touchpad right now. :D
 
Defense Grid is by far the best I've played. There are many different mode for each map so it has a lot of replayability.
 
Defense Grid reigns supreme. Honorable mention goes to Sanctum and Sanctum 2.
 
Orcs Must Die is a huge amount of fun. Not strictly tower defense, but close enough. Defense Grid is great.

Guess I'll have to check out Dwarf Fortress, don't know anything about it.
 
Defense grid with audio off - The goddamit computer cant shut the f*ck up.

Sanctum 1 and 2

And of course all the TD´s types from Warcraft3 and Starcraft 2

It's not a tower defense game, really. It's kinda like roguelike meets minecraft meets tower defense. It can be hilarious.
 
everything else is crap, once I was spoiled by defense grid.

give prime world defenders a try, the mechanics seem pretty deep with all sorts of forging and skills and whatnot, but the tutorial missions and their tiny maps were so lame, got tired of it before I managed to unlock the good stuff. pretty sure theres alot to do if you stick with it though.
 
Defense Grid is good, but I also like Dungeon Defenders. Yeah, you said you didn't like the ones where you control a character, but I think it's fun with friends. Very challenging and a lot of strategy.

I'm not sure if it's a proper TD, but I consider it one..

Toy Soldiers

Fucking fun game :D I love the direct control mode for placed items, and the tanks/planes are ridiculously fun.
 
Dungeon Defenders is good.

Sol Survivor is just okay, but the 4 player aspect is a lot of fun. My biggest complaint is it seems like the levels are either too easy or way too hard.

Defense Grid of course.
