I know that these two monitors are on a completely different performance scale. The U goes for $550-650 and the S goes for $200-250. My heart was set on the U because the display is a focal point to any setup. Since its always on, working, and being used might as well go as far as the pockets allow. I plan on keeping it as long as i did with my old ultrasharp (6-7 Years). I would also like the extra inputs on the U for possibly some PS3 connectivity later on. The reason why i went with the S was mainly due to the price and its more than reasonable image quality which will do at the moment. Did i make the right choice? Are my reasons to get the U valid? Id like to hear some inputs and opinions...

thanks

If you like the S2440, you made the right choice. Nobody can really answer it for you, as everyone will have differing opinions on monitors.

It seems like over half the people here get a new monitor with some sort of problem that bothers them --- if you like what you have, I'd consider it a good decision.

PHP:
i have the u2713hm.. its plagued with defects so maybe you did ok

mightve been better to wait for the u2413 though

For the S2440, just make sure you are using the graphics fix for hdmi, if using AMD or Intel graphics. It'll improve contrast and overall colors.

The 2413 would be around double the cost of what he spent, have much, much lower contrast and be better for people who require wide gamut.

I saw the 2340 at a couple BestBuy stores. I can only vouch for that one, but as long as ur OK with a very glossy covering, it is very nice. At $169 recently, it was also a great deal.

Yea i got the s440l on sale at newegg. It was 189$ with 20$ gift card so came out to 170$ it def does the job but i feel that my gaming saloon (my room) would of been better equipped with a higher end monitor. I guess i can just get used to this S

You could always save up and get another monitor and use the 2440 as a secondary. You may like a bigger monitor better, but based on all the issues people seem to be having with the Dell U2713HM, that model may not be your 'upgrade'.

Which ultrasharp is the most popular in terms of having less problems? Or when you say issues u mean like the light bleeding?

I mean bleeding for that model, primarily.

As for other ultrasharps, not sure. Up until now, the heavy AG coating on all of them scared me away ... never looked into them after I tried the 2412 briefly.

If i see that amex dell promo floating around again i might just have to snag a U2713hm.

Oh yea the blacks on the s2440l are spot on. The glossy does kind of suck thou during broad daylight with blinds and curtains down. It still reflects a bit

The blacks for the s2440l are just an illusion brought on by reflections though. If you focus on them you really can't see crap in them because of that.
