Namco Bandai Games, the company that brought you arcade games galore including Pac-Man, Space Invaders and more recently, Tank! Tank! Tank! Is branching out into new territory and bringing back a new slant on arcades. Once found on every corner, the arcade game fell to the more convenient Console and PC gaming platforms. You may now be able to dine in an upscaled restaurant and recapture part of your youth playing vintage arcade games.

“It’s no secret that we’ve been exploring a number of new business models and noodling the future of Out-of-Home entertainment for several years now, and our current planning does include an ‘upscale’ restaurant with ‘entertainment elements”

I got rid of my JAMMA collection a while ago, but this would get my cash !

Will these arcade restaurants come with that particularly hellish odor of chewing tobacco spit and stale cigarette smoke I remember so well from the 1980s arcades of my youth?

You would think our entire generation would be dead seeing how bad cigarette smoke is supposed to be lol.

I miss small hole in the wall arcades, arcades a pizza joints, nickle arcades and mega arcades where you spend $20 for an all day pass. If there was one local, I'd make a point of hitting one up at least once a week. Would be nice to meet fellow geeks and gamers outside the realms of the internet.

Tents that were setup at fairs with no ventilation or circulation, ahh I miss that...

Include animatronic Bullwinkle and Rocky (and the faces of Boris and Natasha) singing beatles music and I'm sold!

We have something similar to that out here called AFK Tavern. Very awesome place for anyone in the Seattle area.

Thankfully I live in Portland OR and have Ground Kontrol to satisfy all my retro gaming goodness, more places need to realize that Barcades really draw people in.

As long as it's not like Dave and Busters where it's mostly is redemption games but not as small as a bar that calls itself a arcade because they have 5-10 games I'll go.

They need to make the tables you eat on actual arcade machines with multiplayer games on them. Order your food, switch on the table for some old school TMNT 4 player.

They're trying to make some monies off the Wreck It Ralph halo-effect before arcade games vanish back into the 1940's where they belong.

You sure it wasn't the 1840's? I'm pretty sure the Civil War was fought in part over the North hogging all of the Ms Pac Man cabinets.

Oh yeah i forgot. Basement people dont like to go out unless it can be ordered over the internet :p

It could have been the 1840's, but there was the decline of Steampunk and the start of the airplane craze around then so I'm not sure if arcade games were popular right then. Maybe we should check Wikipedia on that.
