Upgrade: Quadro 1000M -> 6770m

Thinking about upgrading the Quadro 1000M in my Dell M4600 to the 6770m 1GB for $89.

According to notebookcheck.net, the performance should go way up but I wanted to ask the crowd if anyone has made a similar upgrade.

The Quadro has average gaming performance but lately, it's been starting to lag ... I've been searching for a 7850m but they don't seem to be available in the usual places (forums, ebay, craigslist, etc).
 
Huge difference yes, I have used the FX1800M and it's miles behind the 6770M. Especially when tweaked.
 
OK, going to bite the bullet then. Before making the install, should I remove all existing video drivers before shutting down?
 
Yes, especially going from one vendor to another.
 
Hmmm, installed this tonight and after powering on got nothing but a black screen. Put the 1000M back in and no problems. My BIOS incompatible with the 6770m perhaps?
 
Which vendor of card is it? Picture?
