PC reboots itself when watching a video/ gaming

Hi, everybody.

I'm having one particular issue with my pc ever since I bought it, which was almost three years ago. My pc reboots itself when I'm watching a video (online and offline) or when I'm playing a game. Sometimes the screen just freezes together with high pitch sounds.

The pc just reboots without displaying a waring message of any kind, also when I unselect the option "restart computer" in the section for advanced startup and recovery settings.

I cleaned the computer, the fans work properly, no crazy temperatures (have tested it with HWMonitor and all temps are avg. 29 Celsius) and Windows shows a Kernel-41 error which doesn't help me either.

After having searched the internet thoroughly I unfortunately didn't manage to find a solution.

System specs:
* MSI P55M-GD45
* Intel core i7-860
* ATI Radeon HD5750 - 1GB GDDR5
* OCZ Gold K2 - D3 4GB 1333-999 LV
* CoolerMaster Real Power M520

Verder:
* Win 7 64-bit
* As a monitor I'm using my Samsung LCD TV

Would really appreciate to get some advice from you guys.
Thanks in advance!

Well it can be either your psu, ram , or vidcard. Is there anyway you can try out a different psu? Also, run a memtest on your ram, and if that passes, try out another gfx card.

Thanks for your reply!

I'm gonna do some trial error testing. Found somebody to help me out with a psu and possibly other parts as well. Hope it will work out...

Also gonna take your advice and do a memtest indeed.

Thanks!

My last two computers seemed very prone to this type of problem but the issue all but vanished when I bought a UPS with a power conditioner and plugged my system into it.

It might be completely coincidental that the problems went away at that point, but I wont question it as everything runs great now.

You can also try Who Crashed.

Both "WhoCrashed" as "BSOD Viewer" only give me dump files from back in dec 2009 when I just bought the system. I returned the memory sticks and replaced them with new (same) ones after which the error disappeared.

In this case I don't get to see a blue screen or anything before it decides to reboot itself and thus no dump files are being created as far as I can see.

Is it possible to set up any of these progs so a (different type of) dump file gets generated even after an error like this?

Thanks

Did a memtest86 and both sticks graduated ;)

Tested with different PSU > Corsair CX600 > no good
Tested with different Video card > Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 > no good
Tested with one RAM stick at a time > no good

I.e. I'm lost :S

Hmm, sounds like something is shorting on the board. The high pitched sounds can be from a faulty psu, faulty vidcard or capacitors dying on the mobo. If possible , run a game or watch a vid with the sidepanel off and id the source of the noise.
