I've been sitting here for the past hour or two trying to figure out why I can't "see" the AP...

I'm using the supplied POE injector with POE port going to the AP and LAN going to the same switch as my computer is on.

The AP has a solid "Steady Amber/Orange - factory defaults"

This is pretty much all I get when searching for the AP and trying to config the thing:

This is my first time using the unifi APs but it seems very straight forward. just doesn't seem to work for me :(

Can you confirm that the AP is pulling a DHCP lease from your router/dhcp server?

had the same issues, reset your AP to factory default AND make sure your network sees the internet. It says in their FAQ that for an unknown reason if your network is not connected to internet you can't discover them. That was the problem on my side.

That's the other thing... I don't see it on the network :(

Had an issue with one of mine. I reset it and after that I was able to detect.
I must have reset it a few times. I have the three pack so I'll see if I can try others today

My network does indeed see the internet so no problem there.
Resetting the AP by holding down the reset button on the bottom for ~10 seconds does something with the light pattern... Flashes green, dark for a few seconds, flashing amber then steady amber again...
However I'm still not seeing it on my network. I'll see if it works on site at the install today.

Use the discover utility.

You didn't bother looking at his post close enough. He already used it and it found nothing.

One thing I will mention is....On the Mac version of the controller software if you run the discovery tool and the controller software at the same time will conflict and detect nothing. Try turning off the controller software, then re-run the discovery tool.

He's using Windows 7 or 2008R2. Temporarily disable the firewall and scan again.

Had this problem with a few of unifi ap's.

My issue was that they would not pull a DHCP lease, and already had IP in the 172 range. Unfortunately, the reset button on the units didn't work and you can't reset them through telnet without the password...

Bought mine from amazon but it's possible that they were returns (although they were sealed and appeared to be factory new).

Just for giggles.... Install XP mode into your win7 and run the discovery app from there.

I thought they fixed this issue a long time ago... but maybe you have an older firmware and software controller.

Check their faq - u need to have certain ports open (i think, I saw a review on amazon about it)

Well it worked on the clients site. I have a feeling you guys are on to something...

The file server there is a Windows XP box so I just tossed the software on that and it was good to go. I was able to config the APs without any issues at all
