I got a Win 8 pro upgrade disk from Microcenter and a new ssd. I plan on dual booting Win8 on the new ssd with my existing Win7 install. If I do that will my Win 7 cd key be deactivated?

hmm wonder that myself. I know I got a dual boot screen that has 7/8 available options but I haven't tried 7 yet. I'm about to reboot and see if its still go

Just tried it. Win 7 is still good to go. FYI my computer restarted when I selected win 7 not sure if that's standard behavior

Glad it worked for you. It didn't for me. Win 8 would not let me install on the OS on the SSD without using a secure boot. Because of that I can't dual boot from a nice menu- I have to manually select the hard drive I want to boot from using the motherboard's bios. I have to see if I can somehow fix that- any ideas? I have and Asus P8P67 pro with the latest bios. I don;t see anything in the bios about turning secure boot off.
