I'm kind of glad I never invested too much money in the apple app store.
I'm kind of torn on which platform to choose though.

iOS: solid, quality apps, fluid but stale

Android: lots of free goodness, lots of customization but you'll never know for how long you'll get updates in software.

Windows phone 8: ? I know that I like the home screen, so simple yet advanced but I have a few questions.

1. Quality and quantity of app selection?
2. How will updates work? Windows takes 4 or some years to create a new OS, so these phones will keep getting updates till a new OS arrives? (would be a selling point for me).
3. Do you HAVE to use Bing?
4. Will resell value be a lot worse than an apple product?

I would buy an iPhone, but it would defeat the purpose of getting a "new" gadget seeying that what I get as an upgrade of my iPhone 4 is just a loss of money.

I have a white 900 and honestly with the deep black display it just contrasts and looks so nice that I think I'd do it again. Black though is safest not just because it's neutral but also because you can put any color case over it and it will still look nice. For kicks here are some old pictures I took contrasting the chassis colors with cases and some tiles. I meant to do something more comprehensive but never got around to it. (in my family we have a black, cyan, and a white 900) Honestly, the glossy looks pretty damn nice, at least on white. I think it'd look nice with any color really.

Keep in mind, having a certain color chassis might "restrict" you to only using certain colored tiles unless you don't care about them clashing. Yes I know it's a phone, I don't care really but some do.

Same here. Red and Yellow looks tempting, but unfortunately they are kiddish and girlish colors. I own white glossy Lumia 900 and will select the same colot for my upcoming Lumia 920.

Even if Windows 8 sells as badly as Vista, Windows Phone should see a large number of apps added by this time next year. Developers develop for their largest audience.

OK, with the release of the High Contrast mode image, I may be getting a white one...

That high contrast shit is making my eyes bleed. Also, Pfaffenhofen.

Huh, guess rumor is that it isn't going to be released until Nov 11th in the US now.

I got the red, love mine! Just an amazing candy apple red color. Saw the yellow in person, and it's probably even nicer than the pictures. I'm still debating returning the red for the yellow, but I think I'd be happy either way.
