Moving from 3GS to 5 soon.
This upgrade makes sense to me. I don't understand the 4S -> 5 upgrade.
I have a 4S for work, and I have no desire to upgrade. I don't even use my 4S, it is forwarded to my personal GNex 95% of the time anyway.
Wife says that she wants an iPhone 5 so I'll be buying it outright. It looks to be a nano SIM though so I'll need to cut her micro SIM and than sand it down since they are 15% thinner. We were just at the AT&T store an hour ago, she was much more impressed with the Galaxy Note than the S3 so I don't even know what to say.

Got my pre-order in this morning at 3:20 eastern.
I have an unlocked iPhone 4 right now and I grudgingly decided to stick with AT&T. I really really wanted to switch to Verizon, but I couldn't swallow the $30 a month increase in my bill for the exact same plan.
Pre-ordered in person this morning at my local best buy. I'm the 5th person to pre-order any of the iphone 5's at that store; so here is hoping I am able to get one.
Apparently the entire stock was wiped out within an hour. There are claims that the ATT and VZW preorders grossly overstated their stock.
Ruh roh.
I would be shocked if any store actually sold out on the first day. This isn't Apple's first rodeo.
IMO ATT is the better provider. You might get better service at times with Verizon but you cant use data and voice at the same time. Also the service will probably be improved with the 5 (not just LTE but older generations as well).
AT&T has come a long way since the days of the first iphones. I work on AT&T's LTE rollout project (I'm with another company though), and let me tell you, they are super stringent on making sure everything works great, with no performance degradation. They are very anal about it now. Sucks for me when I have to do reports, but it's good for customers since we all will have a more reliable data network.
I'm going to upgrade, but I'm still trying to decide if I want to drop my grandfathered unlimited data for the cheaper subsidized iPhone5, or just fork over mass amounts of cash to keep the unilimited data with Verizon...
That's nice to hear
My only complaint with my iPhone 4 on ATT is that I lose service when going through an underground tunnel from Manhattan to Long Island. The loss in service is not what seems illogical to me but that the other passangers on the train who seem to still be browsing and making calls.
Doesn't the Samsung Galaxy S3 have better specs?
