Is Syncback not a reliable backup software?

One of the reasons why I started to use Syncback is because there is a secure copy option. It's suppose to verify that the original file matches the copied version. Two days ago, I copied about 18,000 files from an external hard drive to my computer. The program said the transfer was successful. However, when I went to Windows Explorer and compared the copied folders to the original, I notice that 3 files are missing from the computer. I don't know which file it is because about 18,000 files are transferred over. I tried it again today and it did the same thing with a different batch of files. Some files are missing. What frustrates me even more is that the log says the transfer was successful when clearly it's not because some files are missing. Have this ever happened to you guys? I wonder if RoboCopy is any better?

How are you using syncback? For example, are you syncing or running a mirror backup. Are you copying this from your OS drive? Does the log show any errors? For example, maybe 3 files from the Crypto or MachineRSA directory? Can you post a copy of the transaction log .htm? It has been rock solid reliable for me, when I first started evaluating sync apps for windows, I ran tests with tens of thousands of files, made par sets for the original and then tested it against the copies. Never gave me a problem. Are you running the latest version? A fully licensed version (not pointing fingers or accusing anyone of anything)

I'm just using the backup profile. I'm not copying anything from the OS directories. These are just strictly file folders that I created.

Nope, the log doesn't show any errors, but it does show files were skipped. No explanations were provided as to why.

Where can I upload the log to? It's not one file though. It's an htm file that is linked to a series of htm files.

Well, I don't need the log, just post the filenames and paths for the 3 files. As to common reasons for files to be skipped, and how you can set the software to log the reason it was skipped, here is a cut from their support system:

In SyncBackSE and SyncBackPro you can configure your profile to record in the log file the reason why a file or folder was skipped: modify your profile, enable Expert mode (via the Click For Options button), go to the Log settings page, and tick the “Log the reason why...“ checkboxes.

Files are skipped based the profiles settings. The most common reasons why a file is skipped are:

- The file is in the destination only and the settings on the Advanced settings page specify that these files should be skipped

- A setting on the Advanced settings page specifies that in certain situations a file should be skipped (when using Smart Sync there may be many situations where you want a file to be skipped)

- The files are inside a junction/reparse point and on the Copy/Delete->Folders settings page the option 'Ignore NTFS junction points (reparse points)' is ticked (which is the default).

- The file to be replaced is newer and on the Copy/Delete settings page the option ‘Do not replace newer files with older files‘ is ticked

- The file to be replaced is read-only and on the Copy/Delete settings page the option ‘Do not overwrite read-only files (ignored when file to be replaced is on an FTP server)‘ is ticked

- The file to be deleted is read-only and on the Copy/Delete settings page the option ‘Do not delete read-only files (ignored when file to be deleted is on an FTP server)‘ is ticked

- The file to be copied is read-only and on the Compare Options settings page the option ‘Do not copy read-only files‘ is ticked

- The file to be copied does not have the archive attribute set and on the Compare Options settings page the option ‘Do not copy files that do not have the archive attribute set‘ is ticked

There are other reasons why a file may be skipped, e.g. you were prompted on what action to take with a file and responded that the file should be skipped.
