Anybody here have any experience with the Asrock Z77 Pro4-m motherboard? I am thinking of getting this motherboard because it is cheap at $110 from Newegg and it has much more features than the Gigabyte Z77M-D3H at the same price. However, I am worried about the quality of Asrock's boards based on HardForum's review of the past generation of Asrock motherboards.

Should I just jump on the Gigabyte? Please help.

Thank you for the reply. I am only considering the Asrock or the Gigabyte above because I don't trust Biostar too much on their quality and RMA. Plus the price is $120 whereas both Asrock and Gigabyte are $110. I plan to build an i5-3570k and do some mild overclock, maybe 4.2 or 4.3 ghz if possible. I will only be using 1 graphic card due to the money issue so SLI or crossfire is out of the question.

I really like the features on the Asrock Pro4-m (8 Sata ports, Digital Power, Virtu MVP, Esata) since they offer more over the Gigabyte at the same price. However, I am afraid of Asrock's quality control from reading reviews on this Forum.

I've had a few Asrock, got high overclocks out of them, and they were rock solid.

Thank you, that is good to hear. Where these Asrock Z68 boards that you had? It seems that HardForum's reviews had bad luck with the Asrock boards and they don't recommend any of the Z68 boards they reviewed.

I have had good boards from Asrock as well. The only bad board I ever had out of over 40 or so was a P55 Extreme that couldn't handle overclocking to well and blew up twice on me.

I haven't had any of their newest boards, I had a P45, H55, and a P55.

I have an ASRock H61iCafe board, for entry level, it has SATA3 and USB3 with their signature XFAST apps. Cant complain, and it too is rock solid, NEVER an issue. see no reason to upgrade to the Z77, after looking forward to the 3570k, cause my current board is IVB ready and is such a solid board already.

LOVE the asrock stuff very much worth it. 5 years ago Id say NO WAY but now... HELL YES!

Thanks for this thread. I have a friend who picked up an ASRock Z68 Extreme3 board for the Combo Cooler Option. He has a $60 CPU cooler that he wanted to use with his Sandy Bridge setup, but it is made to fit an LGA 775 socket. ASRock's CCO allows you to mount LGA 775 coolers on LGA 1155 sockets. Very nice. So far he has been very happy with his purchase.

I'm in for one.

Any opinions on the Atheros GbE chip on the GIgabyte vs Realtek 8111 on the Asrock? At least, the next Gigabyte model up uses Atheros, so I assume they probably use it on this lower-end one as well. Also the Gigabyte has a VIA 2021 sound chip vs Realtek on the Asrock. Again, not sure it matters.

For sound card, I prefer the Realtek. As for LAN, it doesn't matter as much
