Thought I would make a new thread just so everyone sees this other than making a post in the other thread.

Fry's will price match this. When you show them the Microcenter website, choose a location that has the 2600K in stock.

The manager will price match it and you will receive it for $199.99

I did this at my local Palo Alto store.

Only stores that have microcenter with in 20 or 25 miles. The stores in bay area and so-cal will do it most likely.

Yes the manager can legally do it if they wanted to but if they go by their policy they don't have to if there is no microcenter in the local area.

Just letting people know because lot of people will go to store thinking this but it ends up being a big waste of time for them.

Very interesting. Would like to see confirmation of this (i.e. that this is true to all stores and is not at the manager's discretion)

thx

Definitely manager's discretion. My Fry's told me no way in hell, the Microcenter was out of stock. I'm at the Fountain Valley Fry's.

the motherfucking asshole with braces at the sunnyvale frys said no we wont pricematch becuase its not in stock by the nearest MC.

I work there, they will usually do it if you have local microcenter around and given that they have the processor in stock.

no microcenter within 20-25 miles = no price match, even if they have it in stock.

That motherfuckin asshole is probably going by his policy, they have to explain and print out the paper showing it in stock and submit it to audit department at the end of the day. If he matches the damn thing and the paper says no stock at the closest microcenter than it is his ass that would probably have to explain what happened?.

I bet the guy with the braces was a sales guy who couldn't price match because he has to have an approval from his boss.

if they item is below profit specially processor that has no margin and you knock off over a 100 bucks, he has to get a password from store manager to get you that price or the person in charge with store manager rights if the store manager is not there.

All of the employees at Fry's are motherfucking assholes, it's a fact which is most evident upon walking into any of their stores. Don't try to deny it. It's the truth. It's like they go through a training program just to become a motherfucking asshole.

I've often wanted to ask a Fry's employee if there is such a training program and if there is an extra commission given if you are particularly douchy to a customer.

I so wish their were alternatives - the closest MC is almost an hour away while the Arlington Fry's is only ten minutes. The motherfucking assholes win by distance every time...

I guess if that is what you think. I guess we are all assholes for having a job.

Just work there for a month and try to see how much commission you get on a processor. Yea it is 0 followed by lots of 00000. So whether they price match for you or they don't they dont lose anything. You will be surprised how much commission we get in components department, lol.

You all go out to blame the sales person that has no control over this shit, I used to work at store closer to microcenter and I price matched over a 100 processors with microcenter, never said no to any customer when they had it in stock. Pricematching has to go through the manager if it is over a certain percentage and even store manager. So get mad at the sales person all you want, they don't make the price match policy.

maybe it helped that my guy was super busy and I told him to take his time before he could help me, I than proceeded to say "damn they have you covering this floor all by yourself?"

gotta play your cards right fellas, he overlooked the location on the MC website I guess?

LOL I have to agree, if you go in with thinking they are all assholes than I can guarantee you will find one, lol.

I sometimes try to find a way to make the deal sweeter for my customers if they are building a system or something. If they are cool with me and chill, I will push my manager to price match even though there was no microcenter around us. He price matched the 2500k few months back. I told my manager that he was building a bad ass system why don't we just hook him up?

It doesn't hurt to ask, even if it is not up to me.

I don't hate doing price matches but I do hate when someone asks me to search the web for them to see if the item they are buying is cheaper? I actually had a customer tell off another customer to find his own pricematch and let the sales guy help other customers in the mean time. That was special. If you know what item and where you wanna pricematch I am more than happy to do it, just don't ask me to google shit when there are customers waiting in line.

I suspect you work at the Concord Fry's :p

I cant disclose my location, someone will try to get this asshole fired;) lol. May be, or may be in that area.

I used to work in so-cal, I moved north because of family reasons and I have a semester left in school before I get my bachelors in math. I am outta there after that. I am taking online classes and planning on moving back to so cal and if I can transfer back than I will be back to price matching processors with microcenter again, lol. Or my friend offered me a an interview with WD, I might start working there if I get hired.

2 more math classes than I can move back and get in to teaching program up north closer to my family.

If I work at frys another 5 years I am gonna lose 5 more years of my life at the end.

Sounds like you got it all planned out NKD :)

On another note, you could argue that MC is online based. If Newegg had them for 199.99 they would have no choice but to pricematch, especially since they advertise it all over the place. There obviously aren't any Newegg's within 25 miles of any Fry's store.

That is absolutely true, if microcenter shipped it they would price match these things all day. You will never have problem price matching with newegg,or items sold and shipped by amazon, tigerdirect, etc.

The problem comes in when microcenter says only available in store than frys matches by local price match policy. If a item is ready to ship online they will price match it.

I have price matched stuff all the time with amazon and newegg.

I went to the Frys at City of Industry yesterday, they will not accept PMing for this deal.

It'll be pretty hard for you guys to pull this off, especially given that the most Microcenters are OOS ATM.

Worked as Fry's Front Checkout/CS for well over a year. But if you guys do manage to pull this off, please post the store. Best of luck!

This.

This goes with any customer service related jobs. Don't be dick when you need help.

I wish Fry's would stand by with there pricematching policy but they hardly do in my experience. One time I tried to get an item pricematched from microcenter that is only about 10 minutes away from this Frys and they said it needs to be local. I mentioned it's in the bordering city, same county, same area code and about a 10 minute drive away. Again they mentioned it needs to be more local. Go figure...

I think that is going to depend more on who you get. I've had Fry's CS employees price match items that weren't in stock. I even had one doublecheck Amazon and they found it for less than the egg and price matched that instead..

A salesman at the Irving Fry's told me about a month ago that they will not pricematch Microcenter because they purchase CPUs via unauthorized channels. Sounded like BS to me but it wasn't worth pushing the issue.
