You know all those annoying people that wear a track suit and Bluetooth headset everywhere they go? I predict the same path for these things....if they ever go into mass production.

If you venture into a coffee shop in the coming months and see someone with a pair of futuristic glasses that look like a prop from “Star Trek,” don’t worry. It’s probably just a Google employee testing the company’s new augmented-reality glasses.

As ridiculous as they may look, they are still very interesting to me. Part of me says hell yes, I want one, I wonder what they will cost. The other part of me wonders, at the moment when I have to walk out of my house into public wearing one, would I be willing to?

I can't stand wearing contacts or classes(don't need to) so no hope for me. :(

if they look like normal glasses... it shouldnt be a problem. I'd take a pair that would look like sunglasses... especially if I can link it to a gaming system, then use an ergo gaming controller. perfect! Hello .hack :)

Are these so I can get advertisements from Google without the need for a computer?

Looks cool, except I just don't like that you have to speak outloud for all of the commands. I hate the handsfree people who look like they are talking to themselves until I see their bluetooth device in their ear. Hopefully Google will figure out a way to hardwire directly into the brain so that they can take commands directly from me. They already invade my privacy in just about every other way so I'm OK with sharing my secrets and thoughts with them as well. :)

They are also working on a pair that fit over current glasses. So no problem there for me.

These seem to be okay.

What do you think 10 years and we'll have contacts that can do the same thing as these glasses?

I would want regular looking glasses like the one in Daniel Suarez's Daemon and Freedom books.

So we're all going to look like geordi laforge in the future?

Ill wait for the LASIK version where they embed it directly into your eyeballs

"No, I'm not a stranger stripping your clothing off you... Your augmented reality must have a glitch."

why the don't people just link straight to the site and not the hardocp page with the link? that bugs me every time. .....probably cause I read [H] on my phone a lot, but still!

cool shades.

If they make me think that the woman who is wearing them is my girlfriend and I think that I'm dating her.. I'll take em.

I would never get one of those...

It's bad enough now with Google and others tracking where you go on the internet, with one of these they would be able to record everything you say, everything you use, all of the places that you go, etc

Now that I have Lasik done, I'm ready! Just do to my age, the left eye is far distance and my right eye is for close. Semi-mono.... works well.

Hope they sell these for either eye, and I wonder if it's a close focus thing or not?

curious how the make it so you can actually focus on the screen since its so close to your eye (and they're not assuming everyone is horribly nearsighted). Perhaps they use mirrors and create a virtual image farther away

I will probably never venture into a coffee shop. Not my cup of tea. (pun!)

We already have people walking into traffic on their cellphones. This will end badly for our race...

And the lack of good control options is another issue. I don't want to hear 50 million people in my year's commute tell their fucking glasses to schedule a 8pm meeting at the hipster douchebag convention.

yea tech is cool demo could of done with less hipster bullshit

Imagine road schematics in your eyeglass HUD as you drive. Yah, 'I want to go there.'

I'd like to see the hacked videos from celebrity augment cellular glasses.
