Researchers at Wake Forest University are working on new Nanotechnology that once perfected, will turn your own body heat into energy to charge your cell phone.

Cost has prevented thermoelectrics from being used more widely in consumer products.

Forget phones... more applications of this will definitely come out of this if it works. Remote controls, game controllers, keyboard/mouse, and so many other random stuff.

Better keep a stack of these handy.

72 stacked layers in the fabric yield about 140 nanowatts of power

That's 140 BILLIONTHS of a Watt.

Would take several thousand years to charge a cell phone.

Yes, but you are missing the point. They can call this green energy and overhype their results to get hundreds of millions of dollars of federal money to start a company and continue "green energy research". They can then give the execs huge bonuses, fire employees, and go bankrupt on the public dime.

"I imagine being able to make a jacket with a completely thermoelectric inside liner that gathers warmth from body heat, while the exterior remains cold from the outside temperature. If the Power Felt is efficient enough, you could potentially power an iPod, which would be great for distance runners. It's definitely within reach."

Great so a jacket that actually sucks the heat from your body, great "jacket"

sweet so i can buy a 2000 dollar jacket that will provide enough power to maintain my phone battery while im running 2 miles. sounds like over the course of a thousand years i may be able to offset the cost of the jacket.

I have discovered a way to make more electricity that only requires single layer cotton socks and a short walk across the carpet. I predict with some funding, I can get this phenomenon to charge my Ipad. If there are any venture capitalists out there that want to get in touch with me, send me a PM.;)
Keywords: green, clean, lean, free, energy, ipod, bullshit

I remember when I was a kid I watched a documentary where a phone (Japanese brand I believe) was suppose to be able to recharge itself through heat from the hand. This was WAY before, in the 90s I think.

I imagine my hand cramping before the phone actually charges.

6502... Either that guys is OLD, or he's young and looked up something old. LOL

I use to program assembler in 6502. Ahh the good ol days.

Why in hell would Wake Forrest University would want to do that for, when they already can get all the research money they could ever need?

I'll finally be able to get my homemade Iron Man suit online!

I've got boot jets, repulsors, chest beam, and onboard nav ready to go...but I need 10 frikkin' car batteries to fire it up.
