So far, I have try

Trick 1: Insert Picture, and I created a picture of a light watermark

Trick 2: i have also try Word Art.

The problem of the above trick is that w/ trick 1, it's messy

w/ Trick 2: the word art over lay the spreadsheet

What I really want is to create a word art of some sort, or even an JPG on another software, and be able to reduce the opacity of the insert picture to say down to 20%, i.e., use it as watermark

can you do that w/ Excel 2010?

I am hoping I can do that w/i Excel 2010, but after checking a few books on Excel 2010, I don't think they can do it

Couple different ways that I found after some Googling on this. They are... kludgy.

The first method works OK except that editing under the picture takes some work. You have to cursor into it from outside the rectangle. From here:
To make an entire image transparent or partially transparent, insert a shape such as a rectangle into your Office document, give the shape a picture fill using the image that you want, and then change the picture fill's Transparency setting.

This second method works a lot better but you have to play around with the positioning and I couldn't really find a way to adjust transparency with a picture. WordArt should work for it. From here:
Use a picture in a header to mimic a watermark

There just isn't a good way to insert a watermark. Kind of strange, considering.

Okay, I used to do this on the Corel Draw, but that was 11 yr. ago, so I assume w/ Excel 2010, whatever function the Corel draw had at that time, it should be in this ver. of Excel 2010. So figure out how to do transparency, it's under Format Text Effect.

So all I need is 3D text. i.e., each word on my watermark shows a depth effect. Can Excel 2010 do that?
