I bought the game off the developers directly, they sent me a key and I registered it through Steam. I've been playing for about 3 hours now, and it's fantastic. Now, the game was supposed to be out on Steam a few days ago, but for unknown reasons, the "purchase" button is not enabled. The game files are all on Steam's servers. I think I know why, which I will get to later.

It's full of Running With Sissors humor, if you thought Saint's Row's humor was crude, wait till you see Postal 3. SR starts to look like Sunday morning cartoons. If you liked Postal 2, you will like Postal 3. I don't care for the third person mode, but there will be FPS mods out soon, so it's not bothering me much. The gunfights are entertaining, the music is awesome and something you need to see to believe, but unfortunately, the game very buggy, despite being on the Source engine. I think this is the reason why Steam didn't officially release it yet, the game might be deemed to buggy for Valve, and they want RWS to fix it up (this is all entirely guesses). Stuttering, FPS drops, animation problems are all there. But the humor and missions are quite entertaining, and I am enjoying it a lot more than Saint's Row 3. I'm quite tired right now, and I'll add on more later.

Steam key $40: http://www.postalgames.com/servlet/the-32/POSTAL-III-Steam-Key/Detail

Saw the videos, graphics are just too meh for me to pick it up. Enjoyed Postal 2 though.

Looks kinda fun, but $40 is way too steep right now for that...

Seriously? Mind if I ask what elements of the game make it "more enjoyable" than SR3?

There's so much to SR3, which is over-the-top in it's action, excellent voice acting, game mechanics, visuals, missions and generally offering a ton to do, I cant imagine Postal 3 living up to that level.

I planned on Postal 3, but as you've said, it's not even on Steam at this point, there's no reviews anywhere and the release date is "TBA" everywhere I look.

When I entered the thread I thought it was Portal 3...can't read I guess...

Anyways, had no idea Postal 3 was even in the works. Actually installed the 2nd one a few weeks ago just to cause some general mayhem! Man did I remember the graphics looking better though! And Gary Coleman!

Yeah I'll keep my eyes open now for some Postal 3 action...thanks for the heads up OP!

Its available on D2D, Gamersgate, and direct from RWS all as a steam key. It is pretty odd that it isn't listed on Steam yet. I have to admit that I'm probably going to have to wait for a sale on this one.

Hmm... still uncertain, since it seems the OP hasn't yet responded further to my question and there's no reviews anywhere to be seen.

Also still find it truly odd that it's still not yet listed on Steam for sale.

Has anyone else played it as of yet? Is it at all "free roaming"? Vehicles? Is there a lot to do in-game?

I'd like to get some more feed back on the game before I make the jump, and I'd rather just get it on Steam itself, since that's where I buy all my games.

Some have said that it needs to be submitted for a rating before steam will list it

I like it just not as much as postal 2, the free roam and explorability of the game are just not the same it feels like you are watching an interactive movie not playing a free will type of game. All this said thought it is still quite fun if you can get past the small glitches throughout the game.

How did this game's release completely slip under the radar for me? I can't wait to play this!

Could you post some in-game screenshots?

It's on Steam now for $40. What's the story on this game?

Idk the metacritic page makes it out to be the worst game ever made, but honestly when metacritic is polarized like that I really take it with a grain of salt. They're shooting themselves in the foot by not having a demo.

eh, in other forums it seems like the "fans" are praising it, same way "fans" praised DNF.
Everyone else trashes it.

Noted.

I can't say the screenshots I'm looking at are inspiring shock and awe at first glance.

I hate to be mean but the game just looks bad. Its postal 2 with slightly better graphics, they really could have been a lot more effort into it.

I actually played through postal 2 recenty. This game looks a million times better but thats not saying much. Postal 2 looks like a pisspoor original source mod. Postal 3 looks like a lowbudget UT Engine game. I don't have any illusions about the graphics. Thats never been a bright spot for Running with scissors. What I still don't understand why they'd tonedown the violence and switch to the 3rd person? It's like they thought could get this on consoles, but really...they think they could get walmart to put a postal game on the shelves? They're deluded.

And now you know why Activision and EA spend more on marketing than they do on development, I didn't hear about Postal 3 until this thread either :p Won't sell too many games if no one knows it exists.

I think what happened here was the developers were having trouble getting a publisher for releasing it due to the type of content in the game, and they held off waiting for a deal that was good for them, I guess they ran out of money adn went the route of publishing it themselves, that is to say they generate the licence keys themselves and sell them through their own website and the actual distribution is done over steam.

It never really got a big release or any major reviews from what I can see, I guess they just didn't have a marketing budget, from what I've read it's not very good, more linear without the free roam stuff, and buggy as hell. It's a shame because Postal 1/2 were good games and the humour was dead on for those of us who liked that kind of thing, they just dropped the ball with this one. I think trying for a cross platform release with consoles really screwed them over :/
