Dell U3011 input lag- is it really something noticeable ?

Hi all. I built a PC for SWTOR, WOW and other MMOs.

I want to buy a 30" LCD and naturally I'm leaning towards the u3011 ... Newer tech, multitude of inputs and great warranty. The only issue is this input lag issue I'm reading about. For those who have owned/used the u3011, is it REALLY an issue at all ? Over the past couple of years I've been using a 27" iMac as my main computer and I have never noticed any lag at all... But from what I've read, the lag on the dell is around twice as long at 23ms vs 12ms.

I do have the option of opting for a used HP L3065 which from what I understand has minimal lag due to the lack of a scaler/OSD but no warranty and a two year old panel might be risky. I have also considered a HP ZR30 but they cost way more in Australia, around $1700usd which is more than I really want to pay.

Can U3011 users give me any guidance here ?

Cheers

Chris

I can't notice a thing when playing SWTOR. I'm even using a wireless mouse lol.

0 regrets about getting a U3011, scaler was important for hooking up my Xbox, as well as the audio pass through.

I owned three U3011's before returning them. I couldn't stand the input lag. I'm not on a ZR30w and I can honestly say it's a big difference.

If there is anyway to try one out, I would do that. The dell had more inputs definitely, but I had zero use for them. I use Displayport anyways. And I have no consoles. If I did I'd buy a second monitor specific for those.

As for the lag, I could feel it in the mouse pointer, not just games. It wasn't bad, but I gravitate to those things so I couldn't live with it.

i bought a u3011 just for SWTOR. there is no input lag or ghosting at all. i wish i had this monitor when i played WOW. even BF3 is amazing. i use 2 mice depending on the game. one is wireless naga epic for SWTOR and no input lag what so ever.

I have a U3011 and notice zero input lag. I've used it mostly for Photoshop but also played some BF3, Serious Sam 1, 2, and 3, Diablo 3, etc.

I am comparing it to my three U2311H monitors as well as my two 2007FP monitors.

No complaints.

I haven't noticed any input lag and been running one since July. Moved away from a 3x Dell U2311 eyefinity setup due to the nagging little problems. It's a great monitor.

Got a picture of your setup?

Well of course you wouldnt...you moved from one model of Dell IPS screens to another, they both likely have somewhat high input lag. Me being very susceptible to input lag I strayed away from the Dell IPS screens. I personally went for one of the 27" korean monitors, the guide is on the front page.

EDIT: wooooops, sorry forgot I was searching and brought up this old thread, my bad!

Did the exact same thing myself last year. No issues at all. Check the Dell outlet site as you can usually find them refurbished for under $900.
