Is this the sign of things to come in the airline industry? Australian airline Jetstar has begun renting iPads to passengers whose flight is longer than two hours. American Airlines announced plans to provide Galaxy Tab tablets to first class passengers in June, but the Australian airline beat them to the draw.

"Doing things first and doing them differently are key to Jetstar's success. We've listened to our customers and know in-flight entertainment is an important part of their overall travel experience.”

Old news, Last year I flew from Melbourne to Brisbane and Jetstar was already renting iPads, mainly for movie purposes

This beats the in flight entertainment by a mile. Maybe I'll have room for more than my feet under the seat in front of me now.

I was on a... I think Southwest flight... that rented tablets a couple months ago.
