This is a brand new build.

ASUS P8Z68-V Pro
Intel 2600k
Corsair AX850
Corsair 8GB DDR3 (2x4GB)
MSI N580GTX Lightning
Noctua NH-C14

Slapped all the parts together, booted into the UEFI bios and noticed that my Vcore began creeping up to 2.040V. When rebooted, POST error "CPU Overvoltage Error!" is displayed.

CPU Temps are reported at 28C, so it's not overheating. What the heck could this be? When monitoring the voltage rails in the BIOS, they're stable -- not fluctuating all over the place.

I don't have an OS installed yet, so I'm limited to the BIOS and it's diagnostics.

I've updated the MB BIOS to 0801, cleared the CMOS, disabled PLL Overvoltage; none of it made a difference. The issue still persists. There is -0- overclocking going on here, it's a brand new system/first boot.

Any ideas?

Make sure you didn't get any Thermal Paste around the socket. It can conduct electricity and cause weird things to happen. Clear CMOS again too after cleaning up the socket.

id be asking for an RMA for that problem...got to be something wrong there with voltage control..can you oin out the vcore with a dvom?

I've RMA'd the board as per ASUS's recommendation.. so here's to hoping. :p
