I had 5 APC UPSs, this is what I think about APC.

I have 4 products from APC.. Smaller versions what u say in ur message but still from apc..works really great! Havent have any problems.. Only couple times in past couple years ive had to wake up and push the power button coz powers went down for too long..

We have a shitload of APCs. They fail left and right. Aggravating heavy damn things.

its a racket like anything else.....you have to keep replacing those huge batteries every 2-4 years depending on how long yours lasts.

Also i get the feeling that APC's main customer base is enterprise.....so no one really looks when their getting ripped off because it may need those products for their network or datacenter, etc.

Luckily batteries are cheap if you know where to look. If you look to APC you'll be fainting.

Just replaced my battery after about 3 years.. 80$... only paid $150 for the whole thing new. Oh well.. working like a champ again.

I have about a 50 smart-ups out in the field and love them.
I will not put in anything else.
It is the nature of the beast that you have to replace batteries with any ups.
My home smart-ups is on its 3rd set of batteries and is 9 years old.
The first 2 sets lasted 4 years each in a building that had no electrical problems, just storm related issues. They replaced it with a bigger one rather than replace batteries so now it is mine :}

Another in a building with all kinds of electrical issues goes through batteries every 2 years or so of being kicked over to battery once a week or so.
Brown outs where it kicks over to battery for 1 min several times a week will kill batteries in a year.
