I know these have been mentioned in threads here as existing on FSP's web site, but I don't recall seeing them actually for sale. Just saw them on Newegg, so I though I would post here.

FSP Group FSP400-60GHS(85)-R $65+shipping

FSP Group FSP450-60GHS(85)-R $70+shipping

Both are 80Plus Bronze. The 400W only has a 6+2 pin PCIe plug while the 450W has both that plus a 6-pin. For the $5 difference, who'd buy the 400W? The rest of the connectors are identical. The 450W should be pretty much the same as the Silverstone 450W SFX... speaking of which... AFAIK these are SFX PSUs, but Newegg now lists a lot of SFX PSUs as "micro ATX." They also now have a "mini ITX" PSU listing. To my knowledge there is no "micro ATX" nor "mini ITX" PSU specification.

Couple other things... both come with adapter plates to make them fit ATX PSU locations. Newegg has the wrong +12v amperage listed in the specs for the 400W (1A less on 12v1 than the actual label). FSP is annoying me in hiding the combined +12v number.

Then we have the Silverstone ST45SF for $60 after $15 rebate + shipping. Same unit as the FSP 450W down to the 3 year warranty. Hey look, Silverstone specifies a single 36A +12v rail! And look, it is listed as an SFX PSU!

$60AR+ship is not that bad... maybe I'll grab me one and revive my mATX LAN case that uses SFX PSUs.

Not exactly ideal PSUs for someone trying to push a high end ITX gaming rig. I think I'll wait to see user opinions on these first.

the fsp 450 seems a winner to me! perhaps ill get one but why have fsp decided to go black plugs on the end of everything except the 24pin which is white....

I'd wait for the revamped ST45SF that Silverstone has been working on and see how it is. Should be showing up in the next month or so. If I'm not mistaken FSP makes them for Silverstone I believe. As much as I'd love to see them come out with a 500w SFX version I doubt we'll see it. 450w seems to be the industry limit. A shame too because it would sell well if it was a good stable psu with more amps than current 450w units.

Hey FSP! Make a good 500w SFX psu plz!

This is the same as the Silverstone 450W SFX unit, so those reviews/opinions apply. What do you consider "high end?" This 450W unit will run something like a GTX 560 Ti or Radeon 6950 with a Sandy Bridge CPU, so it is good enough for me.

Dunno. It's one of those things... like how some companies sleeve cables only to the first connector or have an 8 pin (4+4) EPS along with a 4 pin. WTF?

Yes, FSP makes them for Silverstone (both 300W and 450W versions, but no 400W version).

Tony from Silverstone has publicly stated that they will stand behind their product, so I don't have much of a problem buying one now, because in case you have to RMA, you will end up getting the newer version.

Two things.

1) I'd rather have a company like SeaSonic make a higher wattage SFX PSU.

2) Why just an extra 50W? Something like an extra 100W (550W) would be enough to run the highest end single graphics card plus highest end CPU, with a bit extra juice for overclocking and multiple HDDs.

I found out that Directron is selling the Silverstone ST45SF for cheaper than Newegg's after rebate price, plus has cheaper shipping as well. I already had it in my Newegg shopping cart, but decided to do a quick price search. Glad I did. I ordered it from Directron.

not modular = fail

OMG I know right that's such a show stopper. SRSLY? How did you ever survive the dark years before Ultra pretended to invent modular connectors?

With this PSU, about the only thing I won't use are the peripheral plugs, so that's just a single strand that I have to zip tie and hide. Hardly fail.

sorry. i didnt know i was not entitled to having an opinion. and for me, yes, it is.

btw your personality on anandtech is much nicer. i dont know why you get more offensive over here.

Deep breath and step back from the keyboard. :p

I saw the "fail" and thought why, but decided it wasnt worth making a comment on. Just means he wont buy it. So what. Lots of stuff I see here on the forum isnt what I would do. Then again, a lot of things I would like to do. Neat thing about group forums is the variety. Things that are a fail for some are a pass for others.

Kumbay ya and all that

Meh. Give them time, I'm sure there will be modular model they can milk us for..

They could at least have been sleeved and with shorter wires... Hey, the ultimate thing would have been to have it completely modular, 24 and 4/8-pin as well, and then include two sets of wires, one short and one long.

Hey, I'm all for SeaSonic building one as well. A 550w would make me get all excited too! I just said 500w because I figured it was the next logical step but 550w would be awesome. Just someone please build one! And if it was modular ontop of that then talk about having cake and ice cream! Yummy! :D

I hva a GTX 580 in the sg05 with the 450W psu, and i must say the psu is very impressive. its cool and the fan is very silent. havent tried anny syntetic tests such as furmark but max powerdraw ive managed from the plug is 310W.

You obviously haven't read all my posts over there.

There are modular SFX PSUs. Ultra makes one, and SilenX makes one (or more) that is pseudo modular.

I wouldn't use any of them because IMO the FSP units are better quality.

You could always send it to Performance-PCs and similar stores to have them "modular-ize" it for you.

Look for reviews on the Silverstone ST45SF. It is the same unit as the 450W FSP.

Wow...that 450w version I checked out comes with an ATX to SFX retention bracket for smaller Mid Tower ATX cases. I could have used that a few months ago as I had to get an SFX power supply cuz my video card was to long...no way to attach it so I had to cobble it in there. :(

Yeah, looks as if FSP bundles that bracket with all their 300W+ SFX PSUs.
